Gaming Thread: What Are You Playing? 🎮

Hey @Lank72, it seems this man doesn't know one of the greatest PC games of all time 🤣

Haha! Good on you @Muiredach

I would like to dream that this would lead someone to uncover some hidden gem of times past - for what it was in it's day it was breathtaking. Right up there with The Longest Journey

However, tried to play again Deus Ex again recently and it's a struggle with the ancient graphics and clunky gameplay, but the memories are a joy still

My game playing on computers ended about JetSetWillie time, although Horace and the spiders was ground-breaking lol. My lad complete opposite ,P.C.gaming non-stop on a game I call clickclick,
Pfft enjoyment and escapism , what next ? You'll be expecting Royal Mail to drop your weed off.

The Longest Journey
I'm still yet to play it! I'm a huge fan of old point and click adventures in general, Discworld (1995) is my favourite of all time.

I have a Trinitron P991 here, it looks just as good as it did back then!

I'm a sucker for old CRTs - also have a widescreen Sony Trinition 1080i broadcast monitor, and a little 14" Sony Trinitron 480/576p medical monitor.

At the moment my downtime is playing through EarthBound on the SNES - it was never released in Europe back in the day:

Emulated, always - I'm not a purist and emulation just offers a lot more than original hardware.

My old i7-4790k mini-ITC build is my retro gaming machine.

Oh em gee, saaaame, it's the absolute pinnacle!!
Did you get the number of that donkey cart?
Eric Idle, Tony Robinson, Rob Brydon - what more could you want? 😁

You need to make time for this, seriously
Looks like it's cheap on Steam, think it'll be my next game after I finish EarthBound 🙌

That's where I have it these days, much more accessible than 4 bloody CDs or whatever it was!

:ROFLMAO: gold. Literally nothing

I have a love/hate relationship with Steam, I feel GOG is the ultimate PC game store because it's entirely DRM free with offline installers.

I want all my games accessible forever even without an internet connection!

I want a game I can play on my laptop ,not too challenging to start.
Any suggestions doesn't matter how old it's the playability ,I did used to like super mario world on nintendo whenever that was and golf .

Discworld as mentioned above. Controls and general playability are incredibly simplistic as it's a point and click adventure, some of the puzzles are notoriously hard though.

Hilarious acting and dialogue throughout from some of Britain's finest: Eric Idle, Tony Robinson, Rob Brydon etc.

To play easily, download and run this: https://archive.org/download/discworld-mr-abandonware/Discworld.7z/Discworld (ScummVM) Installer.exe

No piracy needed, it's now considered 'abandonware'. If Windows Defender bitches, tell it to allow anyway - promise I've vetted the link properly, and it won't change, as it's from the Internet Archive.

Bare through the first 5 minute intro video, it's worthwhile.

The last download called me rodney plonker ,trying to think of the relevant character for yourself 😁

Truly is, the best of obscure old British TV - before Sir Terry Pratchett himself died too. Name is from the first book of the Discworld series.
