The Food Thread: What's Being Munched? 🍴

Been up in Scotland a few days.

Flying southwest England to Edinburgh on Saturday evening was a bit hairy….

Had some good scran as usual, and plenty of food for the soul, and eyes.

A seminar on ego death and universal self within tattooing, and then a day of galleries. Here’s a delicious angry Van Gogh to.

Realised I didn’t say what I had…!

That’s a lions mane mushroom vegan “meatloaf” with mash, caramelised onion gravy.

And for breakfast I had a vegan square sausage roll with hash brown and mushrooms 😎
We were trying to work out what it was last night .:)

Its the Van Gogh that's got me looking and looking.

It’s so good isn’t it.
Not a single paint brush used. All from the tube.
It’s angry and frustrated. It’s late in his life here, there’s areas where he scratched the canvas with the tubes.

I like to think what his actual vision was like at this stage. He was on so many drugs. He might have seen images exactly this way.

Adds another aspect ,All from the tube.
You read it his art like an extract from his diary ,which I suppose is exactly what it is .
Always appreciated his work although not well up on it but appreciative all the same.

The museum in Amsterdam is definately worth a visit if you ever get over
Also recommend the films about his life. A really great insight honestly.
I don’t have any fine art training or anything, I did a one to one artist mentorship this year which was really helpful ❤️

We've been with friends to the museum and loved it followed by a chillout in Vondel Park 😶‍🌫️
Keep telling myself to drive there ,then think but its 30 or 40 quid on the plane and 10 mins on the tram to the airport.
Spring in Amsterdam sounds good an something to look forward to , just not Queens day .:giggle:oh no

Flipping lovely idea.

Just catching up on my advent calendar tonight with a bowl of pave before bed. 🥂

I've had another long night of work. Have some black pudding in the fridge that needs using up.

Thinking I'll stick a few sausages in the oven, fry up my black pudding and three eggs in lard and seasoning - and serve with baked beans.

Craving carbs too, don't have any fresh bread, muffins or crumpets in - will have to consult the freezer and add something potato-y too 😅

Call it a half fry-up.

I love mini-fry ups. I use Hash browns in the airfryer. I got bubble&squeak in the freezer too either of these gets you the carbs component in 10mins.

Any fresh potato’s in? I love some cubed potatoes with garlic and paprika then oven or fried off 🙏🏻

Hash browns are the perfect shout, have them in my freezer - also some potato cubes which are pretty decent in general for quick oven potato.

I'm going to have to axe both soon as I'm on a mission to get rid of stuff with rapeseed/sunflower oil from my diet 😅

Annoying just used up the last. Thinking of frying up some mixed peppers and garlic before dumping my baked beans in.

I really want to figure out a way to build a cold cellar here (or elsewhere) in the long-run, potatoes will easily keep 6m+ at the right temperature/humidity, and especially when left in soil. Though not if you grab them from the store 😅

We just leave them in the ground. Haven’t been able to store them in the house for more than a few weeks, so we just chop the foliage down totally and stick a flag in the bed where they are 😂😂😂😂

I'm finding the airfryer super handy for lots of quick cooks and its so much cheaper. I'm a late convert!

I don't really have the space to do them in ground, but have a good 2x5m patch they can be grown in bags each year (on top of concrete). Just wish I had the space to move them into cold storage somewhere thereafter.

I've been meaning to buy one for 2+ years, probably a dual-chamber Ninja. Don't think I'll quite have the pennies to do it this Christmas.

Air fryers are a Godsend ,Hash Browns ,onion rings even pizza snapped in half then split over 2 shelves and rotated half way , got two air fryers but one constantly stinks of spices because of my lad experimenting . Frozen waffles in the toaster another good one as a shortcut .
Homemade chips in a air fryer mmmm.

You can have him, stinking the house out with herbs and spices ,don't know what they teach them at Uni ,but he eats anything spiced up, Korean ,Japanese ,indian he's the complete opposite of me in that way, minimum 3 meals a day ,definitely loves his tucker.
He'd eat octopus and stuff ,not for me
Only bonus for me is he often makes his mums tea ,which lightens the load a bit for me .
