Site Updates MedBud Downtime This Morning

General updates on development of the MedBud platform as a whole.
Apologies, our database service crashed this morning which caused several hours of downtime. I think it's the longest the site has been unavailable since launch. Muggins here was preoccupied with Christmas prep and wasn't checking notifications.

Ordinarily a script should restart the database service in the event it crashes, I'm still investigating why this didn't work properly.

Either way we're back up, and things should be stable again.

The site went down again overnight, but believe I've figured out the issue. Our previous script was simply checking if the service/process was running, which it was in a crashed state. I've reworked our monitoring script to query the database server directly instead for a response, and restart if unresponsive after retries.

Believe the underlying cause is from our sessions table which had reached nearly 8GB and millions of records, I've now truncated the table, which unfortunately has the knock-on effect that all users of the main database will have to login again (forum unaffected). The crash is happening during our nightly off-site backups.

Will monitor over the next few days.

Just on a side note. Every time I use the site I have to go through some kind of check to see if I'm human and once that has been passed I get asked again every 5 minuets or so. I have never experienced this on other forums and its been happening since I first started using the site a few weeks ago. Is this something you are aware of? And is there anyway to stop it happening from my end?

Yes it's been mentioned before, enhanced DDOS security that gets turned on and off periodically apparently, nothing we can do

Thanks for the info. Its relentless lol. I start replying to a post and by the time I am done it takes me to the am I human screen! This cannot be working as intended because how can I change from being human to being asked again in such a short space of time with zero suspicious activity lol. It must put such a strain on the website and put a lot of others off. Its so OTT!
 
I thought the Cloudflare checks were only for me, due to small internet provider, Linux + duckduckgo privacy stuff making me look like a bot. Glad it's not it
