I’ve very recently begun the MC journey.
As a youngster I had friends who smoked a fair bit and I also took part so I was experienced in the highs and lows (mainly highs for me).
I was prescribed oil and also leaf. I tried the oil and found it to have a really good effect on pain and mood. A couple of minor side effects but nothing major.
I decided to try leaf, bought a vaporiser and kit. Ordered 10g of Red Beard - just randomly chose one that I saw recommended on a thread.
Had the first go yesterday - took 2 draws on it. I enjoyed the sensation of the vapour. I didn’t feel a great deal of a sensation from the MC. I decided to go slow and steady so left the dosing cap in the machine for today.
This morning I took 4 draws on the standard setting and then turned the setting up and had one final draw which tasted a bit rough/burnt.
Compared to yesterday this hit me like a ton of bricks. I was paranoid beyond anything I’ve ever had before (I do remember a few times in the past that I would get a bit paranoid but this was a different level!). I went to bed feeling rough and had a fair bit of nausea….I once had a whitey a long time ago and vomitted everywhere and thought it was happening again. Thankfully I just felt sick for a while then it went off.
So - I have a full bag of Red Beard and am a bit worried about using it….any advice?
Any advice on strains I should be avoiding bearing this in mind…and any recommendations on what to gravitate towards in future.
Many thanks

Sorry to hear this and we have the Big Red Beard here but no too sure on effects yet but I imagine the genetics being the culprit in this instance as it's bred from a Sativa and this could have this effect for sure and you possibly may benefit with a more balanced strain as in a Hybrid as opposed to something that leans to Sativa.

A couple of mildly effective strains that aren't the most popular but never the less may be useful as you adjust to MC are Lavender Cake and High Silver (Sativa Hybrid but not racy IME)and these have helped me at certain times on my medical journey and don't bring about paranoia that more racy strains can with me.

Like I say they are not the most fashionable but could help you with the step onto MC 🙏

Thanks for your reply 👍
So when I’m looking for a replacement - what should I be looking for?

Any thoughts on what to do with Red Beard now? Can I mix it into its replacemnent a small amount at a time? Or try it again?

I would personally look at getting a replacement to get you started and then gradually mixing it over time as it could well have the same consequence even when your tolerance raises but I'll know more about the strain in the next few days and would be able to give better judgement on it and I doubt it'll go to waste 🙏

I tend to like strains with Linalool in as this keeps my own anxiety and mood in check and it could also be worth considering a balanced strain as these have CBD and THC in roughly equal amounts and always help me with mood/anxiety and a couple of examples are below from opposite ends of the price range and often available on CB1 Medical's formulary

I find that the effects from vaping flower happen a few minutes after the inhalations, so you might of just overdone it without realising.

Also I find that when I get a new strain i keep the temperature down (170 -180c)to begin with until I get used to it, lower temperature tends to be a more gentle effect.

Do you think Grapefruit Gift is worth a punt? I’m looking for something more calming/relaxing

Thanks for the input…I’ll have another go at some stage and remember those things. Thanks
