Hi all, because I'm getting a Ruby Twist, I want a Good Air Purifier for a largish room, something that's cheap to maintain and can get rid of excess Vapour.

I was actually looking at similar things. I'm now leaning towards having a silent extractor fan going outside, with filters of course.
The power usage would be the same and I think it would be more effective??

I've looked at a couple of items, you won't get rid of all the smell but they will remove excess vapour/smoke. I was looking at a dehumidifier for over night, which also gives off a fragrance, we need one anyway and a desktop for when I'm using the Twist during the day, the ones with the Heta filters.

I recently bought the Levoit air purifier recently. Don't think it's really doing the trick though, wife thinks the smell is a bit worse than it has been in the past - I recently bought a Volcano Hybrid and up to then have been on the Mighty+. Seems the Volcano is a lot smellier than the Mighty, and the air purifier isn't enough to compensate.

I was hoping it might save me having to go with my original plan of installing an actual extractor fan and ducting it to the outside, but doesn't seem to be the case so far.

Maybe I just need to take more care to actually aim my exhales directly into the air purifier or something like that, not sure.

I do run it overnight on a timer, so it probably does make a difference over the longer term in clearing a room out for the next day, but I can't say I'm having much success suppressing the smell during an actual vape session with it.

An external extractor may help. You can't get rid of the smell 100% but you can lessen it by far with what I said earlier. Wintertime too doesn't help because you can't really have your windows open. There are humidifiers that extract over night and use oils as an airfreshner that it discharges over night.

I said Heta filters earlier when I meant a desktop with Hepa filters. They do remove most excess smoke ect. You need a decent size one.

Yeah this is the one I've got at the moment. Apparently a H13 HEPA filter including carbon filter, with a 80 square metre rating, which is about 2-3x the size of my room.

I've no doubt it works, it's just pretty slow. Says it's 187m^3/hour, so for a room my size it should take about 15 minutes to cycle all the air, although in practical terms it's probably going to take 2-3x that, so after each session you're pretty much going to have smell for about an hour minimum. Which, if you're having 8 sessions a day means yeah, you're not going to get rid of the smell most of the day, just have a decent chance of getting rid of it overnight.

Extraction to the outside seems inevitable.

Coway air purify was on my list vaping seems to be leaving a residue on my monitor and the area has a diesel smell during the daytime the traffic is poisioning me in my home so i put it in the wishlist.

I was looking at these, haven't bought one yet but will be soon 👍

Unless you put the purifier between yourself and your monitor, it's not going to solve that problem. Exhaling an oily residue directly onto the screen is what's doing it.

And only a proper integrated HVAC system is going to do anything about bad air quality in the area.

Yea it will help though surely filters in general gunk up fast i have medical grade mesh on my pc intake and they really gunk up fast. I dont exhale at my pc either its just the rooms small and theres a large fan for circulation too.

I don't know man, can't say I've ever had a problem with vape gunk. I usually vape exclusively in the same room in the house, with my PC and music equipment, and all that builds up in my PC mesh/grilles is dust that I vacuum out/air compress out every few week.

My monitor is currently in a sorry state from a sneezy cold I had recently, but nothing to do with vape gunk!

Should preferably have natural airflow - so two open windows somewhere.
I run 2 x Air purifiers. Short of AC (lol) these are the best for the money, as they are very cheap to run (both total 30p a day)
Depending upon the size of the room and how much you smoke one AP may suffice.

Arete One https://www.meaco.com/products/meacodry-arete-one-20l-dehumidifier-and-air-purifier
and the better purifier https://www.meaco.com/products/meaco-20l-low-energy-dehumidifier-and-air-purifier

Hepa Filters should be replaced at least every month. The generic ones are much cheaper.

Yes, before I got the Ruby Twist I thought I would need it. I don't get a lingering smell of Cannabis, the smell clears up within 20mins so i dont need one now mate. Thanks for thinking of me 👍
Welcome. Thats a much better and much cheaper solution, I'm going to have join the ruby gang soon, can't carry on smoking like this, old habits isn't it?

It's hard mate, the ruby will help you quit, the only time I smoke a joint is when we have my partners grandson here, he would be all over my Ruby 😅, plus I don't want him to see me using it. I was going to use my dab pen when he was here, it's not the best, lots of hassle, I'm waiting to buy another vape pen without Coils, probably the pivot but still looking as this is the way to go regarding dabs.

Absolutely agree with the ruby helping quit as I was smoking again quite a bit but maybe just 1 or at the most 2 a day now and no nicotine spray but a vape with the ruby when needed and no cravings the last couple of days so a positive side effect hopefully :)

Yeah this dinosaur here needs to change his habits, I cant even afford to smoke these days I've been spending c.£90/week on baccy. Insane and unsustainable.
It could partly be due to using glass /bubbler and feeling content after using it so when the need arises to use it again I've had no cravings return in the meantime so may be as much to do with using glass as much as the vape I'm using but all said it is a great device and takes away faffing about with other vapes and building joint's and the mess involved .
