Evenin' folks. I have just come back from hosting another wellbeing Bushcraft camp in our woodlands. A couple of the lads there were MC patients and expressed an interest in doing more camps aimed at people on MC. Im sure that other venues providing Bushcraft are yet to catch on to the MC needs of possible customers. I would like to try and change that and offer a place to come and get involved in Bushcraft and outdoor skills where there would be no worries about using your MC, people would have to prove their entitlement with a prescription, but beyond that there would be no judgement, no restrictions and an awareness of MC patients needs being one myself. We hold overnight camps and have plenty of room for groups up to 20 in size. We can teach Basic bushcraft skills, such as setting up tarps and hammocks to make camp and then foraging for food and medicine, along with fire lighting using various different methods. Or we can do more advanced Bushcraft skills, such as fire lighting by friction using the bow drill and pump drill for instance. We are trained outdoor first aiders and mental health first aiders and can provide training in both via outside trainers, so if a group of people are needing first aid training we can arrange a weekend camp providing that training too. We can also do some Greenwood skills such as carving spoons and other kitchen, cooking and homewares items from greenwoods sourced from our woodland. We also have other outside tutors who come and deliver classes in Blacksmithing and forging, Willow basketry, Leather tanning and curing, and many other skillsets. Would this be something that anyone would be interested in attending, if so I can allocate some days on our events calendar and start providing folks with MC needs somewhere to come and relax in nature without fear of any issues around medication. Please respond on here and share with others who may be interested to give me an idea if its worth pursuing this idea or not, and maybe some ideas on things people would be interested in doing. Thanks and happy Sunday eve to everyone. If people wanted to check us out you can find out who we are and what we are about at https://www.elementaladventures.org/ and some examples of the Bushcraft I get up to on my insta https://www.instagram.com/cardiganbaybushcraft/?hl=en-gb

As ex forces id love something like this. I do miss being out in the field
Excellent. We have a lot of vets around the fire from all 3 Branches and various different regts and trades etc. Had a couple of us this weekend but we have done some camps solely for vets in the past and I am in the process of setting up a Community Interest Company to make this more of a regular event. We also host Craig Welsh (East Anglian Bushcraft on YouTube) to hold his annual community camps on site, where we provide one or maybe two workshops over the weekend. At our last event we spit roasted a whole Lamb, roasted some spuds over the fire and foraged Apples and Blackberries to knock up a crumble in the Dutch oven and previously ones have seen us make a smoker frame from Hazel and smoke 50 sides of Mackerel that people were taught to gut and prepare. Would be up for hearing if there was anything you fancied doing for a weekend event, and if you know anyone else in the community that would be interested please let them know. Cheers pal.

I’m a veggie with mobility problems so maybe this isn’t for me! lol.
Morning Bayo, We are not just all about the carnivore vibe , we have plenty of people who come to our groups who are either veggie or Vegan and we would not want anyone not coming to the woods because they thought it was going to be a dietary exclusion that prevented them from coming. We can cater for all appetites, and we also have paths in the woodland that have been put in to help people with mobility issues, one of our commitments as a business is to enable more people with mobility issues into the woods. We have wheelchair users who have been able to get into the woods and enjoy some activities with us, our carpark is concrete hardstanding and has plenty of room to allow for access to wheelchairs in vehicles etc. Have a look at our website for some google maps images of the site from above and you can see a rough idea of our lay out.

Hello! When my health improves I would absolutely love to. I did a bit of training myself but it was more Native American and I preferred the philosophy and spiritual to the survival physical skills.

I could teach you how to make fire with a bow drill but I physically can't do it.

Tomorrow Brown, Jr. is who I did bushcraft with in the woods of New Jersey. I actually prefer animal tracking and bird language to any of the physical skills. Would love to support you in anyway I can because 14 years of my life was spent being passionate about this.

🐻

Edit: I always edit.
