Intros Can you choose

Can you choose a different strain than the one on your prescription with Alternaleaf or choose multiple strains?
Welcome to the forum @AddA84 and from my experience here Alternaleaf patients can select the products they want and can chop and change from one prescription to the next by choosing products from the portal and placing the request in.
Once a prescription is written and on the way to the pharmacy if you then changed your mind it would require the prescription to be rewrote as the product dispensed has to match the product on the prescription but as far as changing products each month when putting a request in this should be no problem whatsoever (y)

Hi AddA84.

It depends exactly what you mean. Once your doctor has created a prescription for you, you must purchase the strain detailed in the prescription, you can't purchase a different strain unless you get in touch with your doctor to have the prescription amended.

But generally, yes, I believe Alternaleaf allow you to choose whatever strains you want, so at your consultation you can let them know what strains you'd like to try and your doctor should create a prescription with those on it, and between your consultation there should be some sort of portal that lets you select strains each month.

You can choose what you like after your first prescription usually up to 100g with a pharmacist

All your appointments after the first are with a pharmacist unless you requested more than 100g then its a docs appointment and MDT

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome and info, so, is my next appointment with the doctor or pharmacist? Do I just tell them the strains I want to try? Do I have to give a reason why I want to try others instead of staying with the one prescribed?

You don't have to give a reason, but there's also no reason not to tell your clinician the reason so that they can perhaps help you make more informed choices in the future. Their job is to help you find the medicines that work best for you and find a strategy that means you have a consistent supply of the medicines that work for you.

Even if you enjoy all of the first strains you get prescribed and they work, a valid enough reason to try others would be "the cannabis market is very volatile and my favourite products may not always be available, so I'd like to know about backups that work for me too, just in case my favourite strains become unavailable for a time", which is 100% going to happen to you because the market is just like that.

Very welcome mate. Your the private paying patient - tell them exactly what you want - it shows you have done your research. Say you used MedBud wiki if you like. Treat them respectfully but ultimately like a shop or a dealer (sorry professionals lol)

Strains don't last long enough on the lists to get a 2nd prescription of the same strain 😂. Seriously you are allowed to try other strains under your umbrella of strains for your condition/s no problem. If you were completely new to Cannabis then your doc or nurse would throw some precautions until they were satisfied and confident you could choose your own.

You should have first appointment with a pharmacist to double check everything is in place before booking docs appointment the pharmacist will talk about how much you use and might want. The docs are very nice and wont mind you asking for things you want

Hi and welcome.. One thing I'm learning very quickly here is no question is a silly question and there are some amazingly knowledgeable people here to help. I am in a very similar situation and have my 2nd appointment booked for 30/6 so like you, I'm very interested to see what I can receive next time once I've had the next chat !
I've had some great recommendations and have everything crossed for the end of the month as unfortunately due to the strains I received I've had to use the BM again so I can sleep ! Really hoping this will be resolved as it's all money money money...!
I'll check back in...
