Prohibition of cannabis puts us all at risk.
The criminal underworld (increasingly run by foreign gangs) will always fill the gap that the government refuses to be filled by legitimate vendors, and the criminal underworld does not care if they burn down a family of 5 in the process of producing their awful product.
The government refuses to legalise, fills the country with people who need income while the economy stagnates and offers no work to them, while countless businesses close up shop and leave derelict empty spaces - those people quickly become (or already are) the correct combination of stupid, desperate, reckless and with little regard for the rest of us, and those derelict spaces become their factories. And so yes, we end up with fires ripping through town centres. We end up with gang feuds playing out in the streets. We end up with innocent children and bystanders dead in the collateral, we end up with a deepening loss of what used to be a high-trust society. The economic crisis continues to deepen, and things get worse until someone with a pair of balls, a spine and a brain finally stands up and says enough is enough, a number of things are going to change and they're going to change very quickly.
Unfortunately I have never once seen a person who simultaneously has power, a pair of balls, a spine and a brain.
