US multi-state operators ripped higher on Wednesday, with CURLF jumping more than 9% to lead a broad cannabis rally that pushed the BoC Cannabis Index up +1.67%. Pharma name JAZZ added 7.68% on heavy volume, while every cannabis ETF in the index — MSOS, CNBS, MJ and YOLO — closed firmly in the green. The session marked one of the broadest single-day advances in the BoC universe in recent weeks.
Breadth told the story: 27 of 38 tracked names finished higher, against just nine decliners and two flat sessions. US multi-state operators were the standout cohort, with CURLF, GTBIF, JUSHF, TCNNF, CRLBF and AAWH all advancing in unison — a rare bit of uniformity for a group that has spent most of 2026 trading independently of one another. Canadian licensed producers also caught a bid, as Aurora® Cannabis (+2.91%), Tilray (+1.23%) and Canopy Growth® (+6.48%) joined the move, and ancillaries SMG (+4.65%) and GRWG (+4.58%) tracked higher with the operators. The clear pocket of weakness sat in cannabis-adjacent income names — REIT IIPR, lender AFCG and tobacco/alcohol majors MO and ABBV all finished lower, with REFI and OGI essentially flat on the day.
Curaleaf was the day’s top gainer, closing at $3.81 for a +9.43% gain on no immediate news catalyst — the move arrived alongside a strong session for the broader US MSO cohort and follows weeks of consolidation in the name. Jazz Pharmaceuticals’ 7.68% pop was the other clear standout, while sympathy bids lifted Canopy Growth® (+6.48%), Vext Science (+5.42%) and High Tide (+5.06%) past the 5% mark. The downside was led by Innovative Industrial Properties, which fell -4.34% to $57.70 as the cannabis REIT diverged sharply from the operator names it lends against — IIPR now sits noticeably below its recent range, alongside Altria (-3.60%) and AFC Gamma (-2.81%).
Worth noting on ETF flows: MSOS (+4.56%) outpaced the broader-mandate MJ (+2.16%), reflecting today’s MSO leadership over the wider Canadian-heavy basket. Two index constituents — HMMJ.TO and VRNOF — are tracked but excluded from today’s calculation (HMMJ.TO sits behind a Finnhub data tier; VRNOF returned no print).
