Suggested Forum Perks for Donors

Thinking about a way of introducing something that incentivizes the membership/donation feature such as VIP status that gives you access to certain things that basic members can't see whether its new upcoming strains/release dates/statistics/early reviews ratings weekly vip group chat newsletters etc... would you be open this kind of thing or should I forget this idea? pls be brutally honest as usual @GrownHealth @Muiredach

On first looking it seems to hold back info from some and not others where as if we find out something we share it with the community as a whole soon as and it has a bit of a two tier feel dude where as we try to be inclusive of everyone whilst also at the same time fully appreciating members making a financial contribution by donating all the same .

Yeah I did think that might be brought up, fair enough just a mad thought I had at the time

Hope it didn't come across like I was trying to divide the community, was more for giving people an incentive to donate in the first place, I'm donating shortly regardless as I love the site but just think it would've been good way of generating more donations

No absolutely not bud you were just trying to find solutions mate and I just give my thoughts as many donate a lot of time and effort freely but can't afford to donate money and that's what crossed my mind .

I feel MedBud doesn't get the recognition it deserves and im racking my brain to think of solutions... thats it in a nutshell really

It's been hugely important to us since the beginning that we don't lock any information or features behind paywalls, reality is many patients are cash-strapped and we want to ensure all patients can access everything that could help support them.

That said, there's nothing wrong with acknowledging donations and trying to highlight everyone willing to help support - but there's another complication too here which is VAT. Right now we do not have to charge VAT on donations because there's no tangible benefit offered, no influence over the organisation, nothing given in return etc. If we restructured it as some kind of monthly membership package with benefits to members, we'd also have to charge VAT on top.

Although our income as a non-profit is way below the VAT threshold, we went through voluntary registration so we could start reclaiming VAT spent ourselves, and could charge VAT to businesses for future advertising, services etc.

I feel MedBud doesn't get the recognition it deserves and im racking my brain to think of solutions... thats it in a nutshell really

Much love, we struggle financially every month - just hoping we're on the right path now towards fixing that in the long-run
