We're probably the only resource that reliably publishes the information in full for daily changes, every day, but strictly do not allow scraping of our data (see our legally binding terms of service). There's been many projects now attempting to replicate our data to monetise/profit from it, and we have to ban every attempt - it costs us so much.
We've spent maybe 20 hours of the past week's development time alone just blocking off AI/bot requests overwhelming our server. That could have been progress made developing the platform as a whole. We're about to launch legal action against one of them, they even went so far as to try abuse the "
MedBud" registered trademark by adding an extra letter in the name, while illegally distributing our own copyrighted images.
We're a non-profit, I haven't even been able to pay myself minimum wage in the 4 and a half years
MedBud has been running, while accumulating 5 figures of debt just trying to keep the platform running, and my own lights on – it costs us thousands per month just to run our services. We just can't allow others to try capitalise on our work whatsoever.
I'm closing this thread encase it encourages other patient projects to be abused.
