I use medical cannabis to manage chronic joint pain and sciatica caused by arthritis, which is a result of a slipped disc in my L4-L5. Since starting in 2023, medical cannabis has had a significant impact on my life, particularly in improving my sleep and overall well-being.

At the moment.I’m currently using Curaleaf T50 oil (50% THC and low CBD) and MG Health ECS Cheese Leche flower. Previously, I’ve tried Advent T10 (10% THC), Relief BB T7 (10% CBD, 7% THC), and Advent T20 C10 (20% THC, 10% CBD).

I’m trying to work out how to research strains, what should I be looking for as I research? I’ve found some of what I have used so far have given me great focus and pain relief, so now wondering what else is out there

I want to be focused during the day and relaxed at night…

Any tips?

In general Sativa or Sativa Hybrids tend to help with focus and many patients use them for daytime.
The other side of the scale is Indica and Indica Hybrids and these tend to help with sleep and relaxing.
This is how a lot of people start their search for strains with desired effects.
Also certain strains within each category will help with pain more than others.
Hope this helps you get started in your search and am sure others will add advice of what works for them.
The thread below might help.

I think the Canadian bud is the best on uk medical they have a lot more experience growing than the other countries.
Non irradiated bud is better as well it has more flavour where as the gamma irradiated loses a lot of flavour the beta irradiation is not as bad as the gamma and seems to keep the flavour
I also find that I don’t need as much if I have the quality strains
There is also the THC percentages to look at too where as the 30% is really strong 25% is average and 20% would be a daytime strain
Have you seen the pie charts with the different colours on MedBud these are like the flavour profiles of the bud which shows you the different flavours in each different bud
You could maybe try an Indica in an evening for a relaxed effect but I would not pay more than £8 50g for anything

Curaleaf Lavender Cake T20 @ £5.5/g. I know I have mentioned it a few times on here now but I was really surprised by this one. It’s a 20% THC so not a ridiculously high content but still has a heavy Indica effect, this made me very relaxed and sleepy. What I really appreciate about this strain was because of its lower THC content I didn’t feel drowsy the following morning and wake up at a normal time with ease unlike the very higher THC medication available. The flower itself is well grown, dense and has a beautiful silvery purple hue running through it, it’s cured and packaged as it should be, it’s professionally done.
