PLEASE SIGN https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/700860 Petition Introduce 'Grow Your Own' Laws for Legal Medical Cannabis Patients (CBPM) We think patients prescribed 'CBPM' by a medical specialist should be allowed to maintain 3-6 flowering plants (with extra considerations for starting new seedlings). More details 'GYO' registration database could be maintained via local council, notifying police of local medical grows – similar to Canadian setup. There are 45,000 legal medical cannabis patients across the UK, prescribed primarily bud/flower or refined oil extracts. Some patients face severe financial difficulty affording their prescription. Many patients are unable to work, and are forced to turn to cheaper illicit sources due to affordability. "Grow Your Own" is available to cannabis patients in many other countries for this very reason, and we think must also be considered in the UK via a change to Home Office licensing/scheduling. Up to 6252 lets get signing people.
Imagine how many people this could help.
We could as a community share and potentially help people that need RSO that cant afford it.
If you are needing RSO the last thing you still want to be worring about is the cost and how to get it.

Knowing the government, I'd imagine the penalties will still be severe for people caught passing the medicine out to others, even for free to other patients, even if pigs did fly and they enacted GYO rights.

Although pigs do fly - that's how they detect grow rooms in winter lol.

Only dribbling up in numbers this and we need to start pushing harder on this I feel!
The problem is most people who are not already legitimate patients don't necessarily feel secure putting their name to a list of people the government knows have a positive view of a class B drug - and that list is public too, is it not? Even I had 2nd thoughts about it because do I necessarily want anybody and everybody, including colleagues and clients being able to see my view on it? My wife isn't an MC patient, I don't know if it would be worth the potential risk of her career to sign it, even though she lives with and supports an MC patient. And with the very limited historical success of petitions in general, the reward for which the risk is being made seems unlikely to be forthcoming.

Not to mention that a lot of your usual allies in the pro-cannabis lobby will turn their back on this because it's a financial risk to the companies they run/are invested in. Even a lot of patients are invested in companies like Curaleaf!

And the criminal element that thrives on the black market probably has its own lobbying connections opposing GYO.

So it seems to me that the pool of people who have no reason not to sign this petition is very small. It's almost exclusively existing MC patients with limited reputational risk and no financial links to existing MC ventures. How many people is that, and why will the government care what they have to say?

Even MC patients who have no intention of growing their own could oppose it on the grounds that it could somehow affect prices/service at clinics.

Governments like to be seen to compromise. Maybe it would have been better to submit a petition that requests GYO laws GENERALLY rather than just for MC patients, but maybe split it up into separate requests for recreational users/medical users with different limits. That way a lot more people will have skin in the game and be more likely to sign, and the government, in its desire to be seen to compromise, might just allow it for medical users. They clearly will not allow it generally, but in negotiations you're sometimes more likely to get what you want if you initially ask for more, especially if that draws more support into the campaign.

A lot of points raised and rationalised with the last point food for thought and I can understand the thinking on it as your tapping into a much larger pool of potential voters and consequentially more chatter/attention around the subject for certain and it would still have objectors but a hell of a lot more fighting for it than previously .

Our ancestors must be rolling in the aisles, the things they campaigned for could and did cost them their lives, just saying.

I've signed them all even though I was working for one of the big 4 at the time. Sub contracting to the met police did not curb my habits either. I'm not saying flaunt that :poop: but equally don't give them no contest wins out of fear...

High All,

Come on, 6565 signatures we need more support!

OK, hope I am not causing issues by dropping some names, but F@$£ it, I am a nobody, so nothing to lose. Just want to help where I can. Apologies if I upset you please let me know, and I will not mention you again but I do think everyone in this message is great, and I truly hold you all in high regard.

@Drew is Sharing you are the man. Any chance you mention the petition on your channel to help push the petition?
I fully understand you are angry with the Police state and everything else here at the moment, but we miss you, bud.
We need your help to push for change, and you have the reach.

@Smacksalad , you are a legend in your own right. Damn, I use your channel like the ultimate source for medical info. You have had massive success with your petitions. Yes, you have had to fight and battle, but you are smashing it.

@GrownHealth and @Muiredach , is there any way to create a badge or an icon that UK YouTubers can add to raise awareness for the petition?

@Muiredach (side note) Sent you something on Insta and obviosly you wont accept messages there Doh. Not sure how else to message you directly?

Everyone knows this, but right now, prisons are at capacity, and the cost of living crisis is still ongoing. Legalizing for recreational use would be such a positive step for the country, especially after COVID and that is not even scratching the surface of the medical benefits, both as a prescription medication and as an option for those who prefer to self-medicate while remaining anonymous. Whether someone needs it once a year or every day, they should have that choice.

What are the dispensary doing to support us, don’t know how they operate but hopefully they are in it to support of all their Cannabis patients and are stepping up to support.

Please let us know if there is any help we can offer?

6609 today come in people this could benefit so many.

@The doctor 1.8m yes but not are all capable of standing up, just the fact that I am a patient is risky for me my family and our income, regardless of law people discriminate so for those who can, stand up and support.

Thanks for the tag! 🙌 I fully support the idea of patients having the right to grow their own—it’s a key part of access, affordability, and harm reduction. 💚

There’s still a long way to go in getting real patient-focused support, but it’s great to see people stepping up and pushing for change. If there are events, petitions, or ways we can help spread awareness, I’m all for it. 🚀

I’ll be keeping the conversation going through Wakey Wakey Cannabis Club & I will speak to the guys at Meducated UK, so if there’s a way to team up or amplify the message, let’s make it happen! 💨

👀 What’s the best way for patients who want to help but can’t openly speak out to get involved safely?

Morning @WakeyWakeyCC and all help pushing this is much appreciated and for me it's all about getting family and friends to support the petition as well so 1 signature can become 5 but if you could raise awareness in your circles this will help massively as some people will still be unaware of this petition and all talk around it is good .

Maybe it needs emphasizing that this could be a step to further relaxing of the laws which would be in people's favour who are not currently prescribed as this is a larger pool of people who have not stepped forward but this step could really be the start of future relaxing of legislation if this became a normality like in other countries.

As mentioned above we have 2 months to get these signatures but with more people pushing in the right direction it can only help.🌱💚

Morning mate! Appreciate the push on this—fully agree that getting family & friends involved is key. 1 signature can turn into 5, and raising awareness outside the patient circle is what’s really going to move things forward.

I had a meeting with the lads at Meducated UK, and we’ve already added the petition to the website to help drive more support. We’re also discussing some supporting content to spread the message further—keeping the conversation going and helping more people see why this is such an important step.

Big up to everyone pushing in the right direction—let’s keep this momentum going! 🌱💚

Just a quick one to say I’ve added the petition link to my YouTube channel to help spread the word. Hopefully, this gets more eyes on it and encourages more people to step up and support the movement.

Big thanks to @ADHweed and @GrownHealth for the push on this—raising awareness is key, and every signature counts! Let’s keep it moving in the right direction. 🌱💚

High @GrownHealth and @WakeyWakeyCC! A massive thank you for your support. I genuinely believe your efforts will make a significant impact.

Based on a rough calculation, we need around 50-60 signatures a day from today, and we've already gained an additional 30 today.

Sure, this might get shut down like many others before, but just imagine having the opportunity to grow your own, whether individually or as a community, like so many other countries. Those who can't or don't have access would also benefit. Let's keep pushing!
Is there anyone in the YouTube community who can help?

Could unified branding be created that applies to all MedBud Community YouTubers channels or maybe produce a simple video that can be shared across all channels simultaneously, by coordinating a joint effort like this, we could make a bigger impact and blanket YouTube together ?
