While applications aren't yet open, as we need to formalise a full application process – it's likely the first volunteer positions available will be:
Major Positions - Daily Requirements
Minor Positions - An Hour or Two, a Few Times a Week
† If not already possessed, MedBud is willing fund a £10pm Adobe Photoshop prescription for those that require. Previous experience and software familiarity required.
For minor roles, where people have the time, we'll allow applications to multiple positions.
Otherwise, I'll be approaching a specific individual whom used to be involved with a patient organisation to ask them whether they're willing/able to take on a more full-time volunteer role. While I won't allude to whom this person is, I think they'd be a very strong match for helping push MedBud forward overall. If they decline, I may approach others. After a few years several individuals in the community have stood out to me overall. I personally need backup to attend meetings and such when I cannot.
We intend to have a general philosophy with taking on volunteers that each position requires mandatory backup, some redundancy for when any particular volunteer is unavailable, and for another to always pick-up the slack. For me personally, not having backup has been a huge weight over the past couple of years. No-one can be expected to be at full throttle at all times.
There will be dedicated staff forums which all volunteers are granted access to in general, to discuss future developments overall.
This post will be updated as we move closer to launching the application process.
Major Positions - Daily Requirements
- *2x Project & Volunteer Managers: To help manage volunteers, upcoming tasks, deal with correspondence etc. These will be involved roles which look to support the general maintenance and updates required for MedBud each day. These roles are intended to find people whom can help maintain dedicated aspects of MedBud, finding what each person is best managing/dealing with individually - and elevating them to greater future positions of authority within the organisation. Further places expected to follow.
Minor Positions - An Hour or Two, a Few Times a Week
- 2x Forum Moderators - to help manage the community here, to decide upon and enforce general rules, to promote good community spirit.
- *2x Video Review Moderators - to help keep YouTube reviews updated. This requires little more than data-entry skills.
- *†3x Image Editors - to help manage our email submissions for medication images, and scour the web for others. This requires some level of proficiency in image editing, though tutorials will be provided on our exact handling.
- *2x Strain/Listings Editors - to help populate information on listings in the main database. This mostly requires data entry skills, but also some familiarity with very basic HTML; and also a strong grounding in the basic of cannabis, UK medical law etc.
