I was prescribed Delahaze and LA Confidential and they are both discontinued. I'm looking for alternatives.

The Delahaze was an ideal strain for me, for getting things done and was prescribed for that. Not too strong and did the job. While the LA Confidential was perfect for sleeping and didn't leave me groggy in the morning.

I'm looking for replacement strains, ideally a pure or near enough pure Sativa for day and a pure Indica for night. Both were superb and I got some decent sleep. My first prescription was two Hybrids and one of them was brilliant for sleep but the effects bled into the morning. The other strain didn't work and I wasn't clued up enough back then. So for my second prescription i went down in THC strength from 25% to 20% and tried to pick pure strains and avoid Hybrids, not that i'm against Hybrids, but I believe the strain should match the intended purpose and Indica strains generally suit relaxation and sleep, while Sativa strains suit getting things done.

Potentially, my current choices might be Khiron Hindu Kush and Upstate Ghost Train Haze.

If anyone has any recommendations, i'm open to them.

TIA.

You won’t find total Sativa strains as there’s only one called pea berry and literally looks like Tiny balls on a stick was produced by Barneys farm, that’s why they will say Hybrid and frustrating they don’t say the % of each but you can look that up… but there’s definitely been issues and crosses that probably shouldn’t of happened as we have so many Hybrids now as they just keep crossing and crossing… but there’s plenty of people that prefer Sativa dom strains in the day and Indica at night but even hard to get Indica that’s not Hybrids… and the medical names can actually be other names like there some stains from wizard trees and jungle boys yet getting sold under another name as guess don’t want to devalue there’s as they can sell 7g for £180 it’s mad and so guess they don’t want to see MC users getting it cheaper same as been waiting on the doja for months they have put as Thai I guess to look ok charging less and guess maybe different stains than they currently do but the black mountain stuff is wizard trees/jungle boys strains but iv not tried any keep trying to grab bargains if can like got cherry triumph for £30 instead of £90 so that’s helped so much or I’d of probably run out as iv been going though quite a bit as awake around 22 hours a day

Hi @Hazy-Haze, welcome to MedBud!

The Sativa and Indica argument isn't one I'd be basing my choices on. I would focus more on the terpenes and lineage of the plants to try and find the right match.

That said, the entire world has been looking for a suitable Delahaze replacement. Nothing is quite the same.

I would probably start with 4C Labs Moby Dick, Casa Verde - Gazzurple or 4C Labs Lucy in the Sky. They're all similar in profile.

If you need a real budget option then Curaleaf High Silver is probably the best but it does lack a little compared to Delahaze.

Hindu Kush is a good strain, a lot of people use it for sleep although it isn't uncommon to see someone using it as a daytime flower.

Upstate Ghost Train Haze wasn't for me when I had it a while back, typical hay vibes. But I know some regulars have recently enjoyed it's smaller variety (ghost wreck haze) - same strain but different names to avoid confusion with the THC% difference.

Sleep wise there are loads of really nice options around. initially I would say something like an Aurora® Sourdough, LIT Master Kush, 4C Labs Pink Kush, 4C Labs Death Bubba,

As a cheap recommendation the Peace Naturals® GMO cookies is only £65.

The Doja flower gor rejected by Doja and Packs put their name on it instead btw. I don't think you're going to see Doja flower hit medical soon and I reckon it's going to be around £12-£14pg when it does land.

It is always a massive headache when you finally find the "perfect" medicine and then the producer discontinues it. I totally understand your logic—moving away from high-THC Hybrids toward specific "functional" strains is a smart move, especially if you want to avoid that morning grogginess.

The Ghost Wreck Haze is a different brand to the Upstate Ghost Train Haze as it's by Curo but the same genetics but it does have terpenes to it and I'm finding 30 minutes after first using it gives me clear focus but at the same time mildly relaxing physically and in fact I can relate the effects to Delahaze which I've had in the past but we are all different but there are similarities in the effects on me (y)

Rumours at the time were Doja prices were going to be sub £10/g.

I had Original Blitz before them as my night time and Frosted Lemon Angel for day. What i was finding with the Blitz was it was leaving me groggy in the mornings or I was sleeping for 10 hours straight (and more). The Frosted Lemon wasn't great either, at least it didn't increase my concentration a great deal or give me the virtual nudge to actually try and get things done. I think because they were both pretty strong and i'm a super lightweight when it comes to cannabis they probably were too overpowering and far stronger than I need. So I decided to come down a little bit on the second scrip and try more around 20%.

I think I just got lucky to find a pure Indica (LA Confidential) and a pretty good Sativa Hybrid (but I think genetics wise it was at least 60-80% Sativa) that worked well. My litmus for the day strain is does it make it possible to do things, be that a workout at the gym, any educational type activities or even play a game on the computer for an hour, basically motivation and concentration. That's what i'm looking for on my day strain. I am most likely AuDD, even though it was very subjective when I got tested and there was no overall consensus on whether I do have the Attention Deficit side, but I have zero concentration and motivation, so I'm leaning more towards. But the Au side is 100%. Anyway, it's back to the drawing board. But I am probably going to try the Hindu Kush for Night and the GWH or GTH for Day. Then re-assess after a month or two.

The effects you describe are exactly what i'm looking for. Focus, with some mild relaxation. I'd prefer something that isn't overly speedy. I was warned that Delahaze might not have suited when i discussed it on my appointment, due to the speedy aspect, but I didn't find that, but I also probably don't use that much compared to many people. I might have 2-3 hits on the vape and then a bit later have a couple more to top up, but i'm not going anywhere close to the prescribed amount per day. I'd say one bowl on the vape is good for 2-3 weeks and often more. Night time wise, it's maybe 2-3 hits a couple of hours before bed.

I'm vaping at between 160-180C. No idea if that is correct. When I started out I tried different temps until I found the one that gave me the terp effects I wanted and the least amount of unwanted effects. For the Delahaze, ideally about 160-170C was good. Any higher and it became a little less pleasant and more leaning towards effects I kind of prefer to avoid (probably the more speedy effects). The LA Conf I vape at around 180C. I also don't use the day strain every day, namely because I don't need it all the time. If I have nothing I want to achieve or have to achieve, in a given day, I don't use it.
