Holiday Hotel Etiquette

Hi medbeddies,

Quick question for y'all about etiquette abroad in countries where you don't see a medical cannabis distinction (eg Spain).

Do you tell your hotel about your medication to avoid issues with balcony usage? Do you say nothing and risk and big drama if someone reports you?

If it's a largely illegal country, do you use it works others in public? Or do you try to be discreet and move away from people?

My Mrs and I are debating over what is the right thing to do minimise drama and avoid risks of being throwing out of hotels, causing drama, efc.

I've never informed any hotel beforehand mate, and I light up on the balcony throughout the day and night with just one complaint in 11 years travelling with my mrs and kids, and that was some absolutely stinking hashish what ploomed smoke out like a chimney stack

If we're out and about it's the vape cart only when there's a gap in the amount of people walking past us or behind us

You might say: "I carry a legally prescribed medical product for a chronic condition, which I use via a non-combustion vaporiser. I wanted to inform you so there is no confusion regarding the device or the nature of my medication." and have your medical travel letter to hand for insurance and peace of mind.

When you say smoke do you mean smoke?

I'll have my TM2, bought a new smoke buddy and then a few carts of which one is disty anyway.So given what you're saying I should be fairly golden. I think it'll be fine but my mrs doesn't want to be turfed out into the streets - she's had that in a few premier inns for lighting a few ciggies in the past but obviously its a bit different to that.

I've never vaped abroad but haven't been caught smoking either, day time I'd use on the move and after dark the balcony's fair game once the kids are all in bed.

I did wonder about the hotel etiquette in Thailand tother year, until I smelled weed at the side of the pool when swimming, I saw a guy who was French looking unconcerned, Me "pardon monsuer, fumar est ok?" with a smile, him "oui" and viola, I'd already gone for my stash

A vape doesn't advertise the same way a joint does, so play it by ear and you'll be fine.

Yes mate, combustion smoke Naughty, but just my prefared method of consumption

Totally understandable as to why your parther is on edge a little, honestly though I think you'll be absolutely fine given all the little gadgets you've got

Ive had a couple of trips to Portugal (I think similar rules to Spain) and vaping in hotel rooms, on balconies, and at beaches caused no issues, though discretion is advised around families/staff. Don’t tell hotels about medical cannabis, none of their business. Avoid common areas and indoor public spaces. Always keep medication in the safe when not in use. Adapt based on local attitudes as always & have a fantastic holiday !
