Things we should be lobbying for thread-
- a campaign, ongoing and long term funded by central govt, that is aimed at
1- reducing stigma of cannabis usage. By this, I mean something that directly challenges misconceptions and hostility toward it. Within this, something that directly addresses people's usage of godawful, cringey phrases like WHACKY BACCY, GET HIGH etc you all know the words that are just embarrassingly out of date and indicative of a person's mocking or hostile view toward the medicine. Awareness raising. Challenging misconceptions and aged stereotypes.
2- outreach groups within the MH system of the
NHS, pain management clinics etc relevant branches of the
NHS, social care system, the Police (especially) etc. Could be achieved by staff being given a role within their existing jobs of basically being a
MC "Champion"
What might this do?
- convert people from black market customers to supervised, medically prescribed usage.
- incentivise the govt to take it more seriously in public, afterall, HMRC would sure like to scoop up that 20% VAT on our purchases that otherwise goes underground
- in some cases, marginally reduce organised crime activity
- erode stigma, reduce hostility
- above all else, educate people that their legitimate conditions do qualify, and... that the decision is there for them to consider, viably. If it is in our case, legally classed as a medicine albeit a controlled drug, a medicine is a medicine full stop.
How else?
- social media, easy to do, set it up, set it to repeat itself through different channels, minimal cost, minimal human effort
- tv adverts if funding there
- radio ads if funding there
- all the other places I will prob think of after pressing Post Reply!
