Clinics Video Call Confusion 🤔

Hi all. After seeming to have body swerved being turned down by CB1 Medical due to a p/t driving for a living issue, I've been offered an appt in a couple of weeks. It's says it's a video call. Never having made one of these in my life and no real explanation what to do from the clinic, is there anything I need to know or have to do first (i.e download any software? ). More anxious about that than discussing my medical history 😁

I'm not CB1 Medical, but Curaleaf, but I'm sure it will be similar. Curaleaf use Zoom, and no, you don't need to download anything for it to work. They'll send you a link, and you just click it and it will open up in your web browser and Zoom will start the video call via the browser.

So all you really need is a working computer with a microphone/webcam/speakers/headphones or a phone/tablet with an up to date browser installed.

If you WANT to, you can download Zoom, either as an app on an iPhone/Android device, or as a client on Windows/mac, and set up a Zoom account. Then when you click the link from the clinic, it should open up in the app/client instead.

This might be a good idea if you want to set stuff up before hand and be able to test it and make sure it works, like your microphone/camera/speakers etc to avoid any unexpected technical issues on the day. Or you might want to avoid it if you just want to keep things simple and click the link and go via the browser which will work for 90% of people.

Make sure you've clicked the link and entered the meeting room at least 5-10 minutes before the meeting time. Though if CB1 are anything like Curaleaf (or any other medical professional), you can expect to take 5-10 minutes AFTER the meeting time for the consultant to show up.

Thanks for the explanation. They've already sent a link/button to press when the time comes, I guess it'll all fall into place. I guess a laptop makes more sense than holding your phone. Anyway, onwards and upwards, much appreciated 👍🏻😊

Yes, the wonders if modern technology and policy-making means you can request cannabis from a doctor while defecating on an airplane.

But just because you can doesn't mean you should.

With Mamedica® they do video calls, they will share a link with all details - you do have to download Microsoft Teams app for them (follow the link, get the app, open the app just before the appointment and join on a device with a mic / camera)

Thanks......It'd just be nice if they gave a brief explanation of how it all works(unless I've missed it) or have the basic phone call option, which I believe some clinics offer..........

If it's CB1 Medical and the video fails they will call you. I feel the video is important on the first consultation, this is a prescribed medicine and some checking needs to occur, also i found it good as the doc put me at ease.

That's reassuring then, that if I muck it up they won't just pull the plug on me 😁
Yes, I totally understand why they'd want a video call, gives a more rounded understanding of the potential patient, especially when they're dealing with a controlled substance 👍🏻

My follow up was a phone call, just the initial is video.

Yes, first appt. No real dealings with MC or other before. I'm happy to try the video thingy first, but nice to know that if it goes wrong they can back up with a phone call. I'm just over thinking the whole thing really 😂
We all do, it's a nervous thing to do when thinking about it. But this is private health care, your paying, so make sure to state what you want / need. They are friendly.

This is what we all do I'm afraid and I get myself in tiz in the moments before the appointment but as @Moon says the tech side with CB1 Medical is easy to use and we had no problems at all with connections on the consultation or follow on phone call and we're useless with this stuff (tech) usually.
Below is a patient consultation example if you haven't seen it (y)
