Hi everyone,

Desperately seeking advice, my mum is a cancer patient and was due to start chemotherapy but because of chest infections it is not possible at the moment, she has been taking THC rectally by syringe for three weeks, but now she has been prescribed rivaroxaban blood thinners, me and my family would do anything to help our mum, so could anyone tell me if she should continue with THC at a small dose or should she stop completely, would love to hear thoughts and others advice on this that’s been through this situation, thank you all.

Hi @James45! Welcome and I'm sorry to hear that your family have many health worries regarding your mum and her treatment for her illness. Really that is for the Consultants and Doctors to decide. I did read once that CBD can make bleeding worse taking Rivaroxaban but I can't remember how long ago it was and whether it was proven. That was CBD, there was nothing said about THC only CBD. I'm taking Blood thinners and Statins and I've been OK for 10 years taking THC, that doesn't mean your Mum will be ok. I don't think your mum should just stop taking THC oil, she should be weened off like any other drug. Hope this helps mate 👍

Its hard when its your parent as you cant just jump in especially with med interactions.

There will be more interaction with CBD than THC but i dont know how much of an effect rectal taken oil would have on interaction but CBD a no no with it

You could and if it were me then i would do a coagucheck at home with an INR meter and strips and that way you can narrow it right down and add in take away THC.

Celtic sea salt for minerals to fight everything.

Hi thanks for replying, i think THC mixed with blood thinners (rivaroxaban) can make bleeding worse, but we are clutching at straws because my mum is unable to have chemo at the moment, and may never be able too, she does not want to stop but she is scared, would there possibly be a safe dosage of THC to take with a certain Mg rivaroxaban tablet, i hope this makes sense what i am saying and appreciate any further information, thanks.

I wouldn't know what the safe dosage is James. I take a different blood thinners to what your mum takes.
I don't know the full health issues regarding your mum and not in a position to say what are the safe dosages of medication to take.
There should be a solution to this, as in, balancing the dosage between the 2 medications if Cannabis is going to slightly thin your blood.
Myself, but don't take this as advice mate, I wouldn't want any harm coming to your mum, would still take my Cannabis, only because I've used it for many years and I would be careful of my intake and what I would do daily, tasks, without causing injury to myself, cuts for example or bruising myself. That's me though mate, only because Cannabis is part of my daily routine and for my health issues. I've used Cannabis in the past right up to having surgeries to calm my nerves moreso over the years and been ok but that doesn't mean your mum will be 👍

Here is some people having experience with Xarelto and cannabis , Even search reddit with xarelto and THC / cannabis as thats another name for rivaroxaban.

Excellent, I thought there might be some information about taking the 2 medications together. I've always been ok using blood thinners with Cannabis. Any surgery I've had to have, I've stopped my blood thinners rather than the Cannabis and never had any excess bleeding or issues. I must admit, I never declared I was using Cannabis because it was illegal then.

Going by those posts it looks as if yer ok to proceed. Was on Aspirin before but not now but had no problem with THC and them.

They maybe woulda picked it up on blood test but obv not an issue or wouldve said

💯. I was actually asked 2 yrs after spinal surgery, by the Pain Management Team asked if I'd looked into the herbal route for my pain management. That was 2017 before it became legal, they must of known Cannabis was going to be legalised. It was too expensive then in 2018 to take that route, I grew my own indoors 😂

I couldn't believe how successful my first grow was, I put everything into it, the results were excellent. I researched my strains to suit me beforehand 👌. Anyway enough of that. Wrong feed 😂😂

Thank you all for for getting back to me and this is a big help and it’s much appreciated, i would just like to add that my mum’s cancer is EGFR gene, and a friend mentioned today that ivermectin would be good to try, would love to hear thoughts and advice,
Thanks again.

I mentioned NAC before but had a read of a few articles and decided to take it out due to articles or peer reviewed studies about nac maybe increasing cancer growth but i will link to just a google page of searching egfr cancer n acetyl cysteiene and you can read.

They took nac off the market in america during covid even though it was 1 of the best things to combat covid.

So mixed results about it being a cancer fighting supplement due to it being a scaveneger of reactive oxygen speices being hydrogen peroxide which can help to fight cancer.

Look into homeostasis ROS(reactive oxygen speices) mitochondria function etc but even then with alot of knowledge too much of a good thing can be a bad thing

Ivermectin i will have a read about and try and see if anything out there that will support claim of cancer fighting drug or what mechanism it uses to fight.

Here are the things for nac and not condoning its use but its good to read from both angles if good or bad especially coupled with THC.

Tommy chong with taking THC rectally states the importance of celtic sea salt aiding his fight against cancer.

All the best

Your mums conditions are quite complex (EGFR) and I'm sorry to hear that. The Ivermectin is usually used for parasite/s of the heart or something on them lines so again I can't comment on that particular drug. It probably has a couple of uses like Gabbapentin that was originally used for Epilepsy and now is also used for chronic pain. If I was in your mum's condition I'd still want my Cannabis and I've told my family this, no morphine!! I'd speak to a Cannabis Doctor who might be able to help you more regarding whether your mum should carry on with her Cannabis Treatment. I think CB1 Medical Cannabis Clinic may be able to help you more, give them a call as they work within the NHS and cover many conditions telephone 0116 2731233, the staff on the phone are excellent, I'm with them too 👍👌

Hi guy’s, just wanted to give you all an update on what we’ve decided to try, 3ml THC rectally by syringe twice daily and increase dosage as time goes on, waiting on ivermectin to arrive and will start immediately, also started hydrogen peroxide, NAC 300mg, magnesium 600mg, Celtic sea salt, hopefully my mum sees some improvement and if you guys have anything to add or say about this please let me know, thank you all once again and i will let you all know on the results, it’s knowledgeable people like yourselves that give others hope.

Hi james i just wanted to say the most important thing is the THC to fight cancer with that having the minerals to enhance the good nutrition that you are putting in your body.

Nac i mentioned as its a master anti oxidant but the reason as i mentioned about free radicals and ROS is to try and get an understanding of homeostasis creating balance so as they say too much of a good thing can be a bad thing there has to be a balance between oxidants and antioxidants.

Nac is a reactive oxygen speices scavanger and our body makes h202 as a super oxide ROS that can protect against cancer but since nac tries to eradicate it then it can be a bad thing so look into nac anti cancer effect compared to it being an ROS and how that would effect.

It is superb for certain things but the science mixed on it being a good or bad thing so please do look up both studies.

Obv taking nac and hydrogen peroxide is counter productive and also nac is anti coagulant so will not interact well with blood thinners your mum has been put on.

I think minerals nutrition and cannbinoids would be perfect for now and leave nac hydrogen and ivermectin out just now and let the others adapt and do job.

Its all about monitoring THC interaction with blood thinners first and foremost cos you dont wanna come off THC so if can afford get those meters and i dunno if THC is from a clinic then get then to work with you with blood thinning.

Eating sulphur foods is better option to raise glutathione levels( which nac is precursor to) so bypassing direct nac intake which looks too risky at moment.

Hydrogen peroxide you would need to research super oxides before starting to f about with that but i wouldnt igest that or give to my mum. As i said a balance with endocannabinoid system and other antioxidents free radical scavengers etc.

Ivermectin i would look with the same caution as hydrogen peroxide. Reading alot and not having bias.

Look into certain vitamins that will interact with blood thinning like vitamin k grapefruit etc.

As i said celtic sea salt and cannabis oil could do the trick without adding in too much other stuff that is very unfounded compared to minerals and cannabis.

I have been where you have been and always have hope and caution.

A few people over the years have said to stop them. I have a Mate who's been advised to take them, his sister who's high up as a Para said to him not to take them? I've got to have a CT with dye, all over as they think i have clots that have travelled to my toes, also have a irregular pulse. I have 2 stents and if they block, I'm done!
CBD Is a blood thinner, I might be better off with high doses of it with a better diet as ive been throwing everythingdown my neck to try and put weight back on and its bit me on the arse, I'm going to speak to my Surgeon again and with my clinic too to see if I'd be better off with CBD as a treatment.
