Herb Mill

The Mills are excellent mate, definitely easier on the hands and wrists. There are cheap ones which i have and the expensive ones, I haven't tried out. Its going great still with no issues 👍
The copied version of the mill we bought is heavier than the originals and just that bit harder to use but not a deal breaker and much easier on the hands to use than a conventional grinder .

Ive heard some people say mills, like coffee grinders can be bas for the flower. I assume neither of you have experienced that in reality?

They really interest me as a concept, you guys might be the first I know that have owned variations of them though.

I think a mill type is probably the best option If you need a bit of grinding assistance.

My hands are a bit battered through years of boxing, MMA and American Football. I struggle with regular grinders when they start sticking and things like that.

I haven't yet felt the need to look at anything like a Mill but in the vein of "anything else" I thought I'd throw my grinder in for consideration.

I picked up a headchef, lady chef cube grinder a while back and I've never looked at anything else since. It's still a manual grinder but cubed for grip and it's all magnetic, no screw threads outside of the kief catcher filter mesh.

I'm probably not qualified to talk about it's usage if you need some real support, but as someone who has some issues on a fairly regular basis I've found it really helpful for me.
The cubed headchef 'lady' 😅 is the grinder my wife used before a mill and was definitely easier to use than other grinders but is showing sign of wear and tear nowadays.

Ah so you're going to have a real good idea of how they stack up with electric assisted grinders then.

What did you and the Mrs make of it compared to the herb mill? Very different experiences I imagine.

No electric assisted ones apart from my coffee grinder which makes grinds much finer:coffee: more like a conventional grinder .
The headchef lady is great with the magnetic element to it instead of having to twist each part to open but the plate with the teeth has broke free from it's fixing so🤷‍♂️

The mill is a definite step up in ease of use and only takes about a third of a turn to open the bottom section which is a bonus and the magnetism on the lid is just about right for easiest use and when it comes to milling the effort needed is a lot less challenging but in her mill the end product is not a fine grind more of a shredded fluffy effect and an easy to use end product for her and her hands are her most commonly affected joints so this really helps ,me I'd prefer it ground a bit finer for myself but just a touch and there is a finer grind plate you can use I think.

The mill I have is definitely easier and lighter to use than the grinders I've had in the past. There are a few different types of Mill, there's electric and the Manual and many of the 2 types, I have a manual one. The milled flower works better in my ruby than a normal grinder would too as its more lighter and fluffy. There are different makers to these Mills as ive seen lots of different makes of the mill and price ranges. I'm using the mill rather than my grinder now. The one I have is 55mm they do larger ones too 60mm+

I appreciate the comparison, helps me place it on the scale of needs for me and I'm sure plenty of other people will find this really helpful.

Gutted about the teeth bit breaking, how long have you guys had it? It feels so well built that I hope it was a long ass time!

Can you get different plates and things for different grinds or is that model dependent? It would be super useful if they were modular in that regard.

I didn't even realise there was a manual version, it makes complete sense I'd just assumed they were all electronic. I know you've loved it since you got it, any downside compared to a regular grinder at all? What's the cleaning like?

Probably 18 months since we bought the headchef lady and maybe a touch longer .

I think genuine flower mills maybe modular and just looked and you can add these in for a finer grind to suit.

If my Lady goes the same way as yours (the grinder not the otherhalves lol) I may give these things a proper consideration.

The modular aspect is super intriguing, You've got me scrolling their website now... Are we about to see the birth of GAS (Grinder Acquisition Syndrome)

With the one I have, it turns clockwise but if you turn it too much anticlockwise it can loosen the top blade as its a threaded male to female connection. So its more clockwise turning to keep the blade from loosening, that's the only negative so far ive picked up on. You must be able to replace the top blade with it being threaded into the top housing. Its only just a little easier and less fiddley to clean compared to a grinder with teeth.

That doesn't sound like much of a negative to me so what a winner you've landed on!

Appreciate the details mate.

Not me mate I don't use one naturally but have phases of using them and I can fill one and use the dynavap out of it for days but with the wife it's more essential and used daily.

No problem, I only have the cheap Aliexpress version and there is another one similar to mine, same price but looks a little heavier. It works better than my grinder and I bought it just to see if it was better to mill my flower, I'm finding it is.
