Hi - I’m a new patient. I am an ex smoker (cigarettes) - but stopped completely over 25 years ago.
Since starting to vape leaf I have noticed that I wheeze straight after. I am also having to clear my throat a lot.
Is this an ongoing side effect or likely to stop?
I use a Venti and keep temperatures low (180) …
Thanks for any advice

For me, it was pretty bad at first then the throat got "used to it" like how you would get used to inhaling smoke. Some of the vapour will indeed stick to your throat linings and irritate it. Keep hydrated, and try different vape stems, filters, bubblers, marble stuff. I get the throat problems a lot more if I just vape "directly" with a straight stem. But of course I won't be carrying a huge bubbler on the streets.

With me it eased after about a week but when I added a glass bubbler to the Mighty it was a lot smoother again as you are inhaling a lot further away from the heat source as you are when using other attachments mentioned above (y)

Alright mate, this will get better, easier as you go on. Try using your vapouriser at a lower temps 160-170 to begin with and slowly knock it up a little as you go on, what @GrownHealth & @GreenRed have said is spot on. Have a drink handy too as this helps.

I find it worst at higher temps like 180-190C. At 140C it's bearable up to a point. I have asthma though, so for me if I have more than three hits on the vape in one session I start to wheeze. If I have more than six in a day the chances of getting a chest infection go up a lot and I sometimes feel out of breath. Also the more oily the vapour, the more it's a pain for my lungs to handle. Vaping at 140-150C gives me the best outcome and taking lots of breaths between hits helps. But it is what it is. Since I don't use a lot it's manageable. If I was one of those poor souls that need four strains and hit it like the world is ending, with my lungs i'd probably die inside the first week.

Try a water pipe addon if your vape supports it. Fill the pipe full of ice and see if that helps. For me the issue is the oiliness of the vapour clogging up my lungs, not the heat, so a water pipe makes a little difference, but I do like some water pipe action occasionally. Also mouthwash at night keeps the tonsils and throat from getting too inflamed. having a drink on hand is definitely the way forward though, single malt is probably the best.

Sorry had to laugh about the single malt 😅

Thanks 👍. I’m going to use mainly oil for now, have a rest and then try again at slightly lower temps - thanks again

Thanks for your help 👍 I’ve got a venty - but will drop the temps next time I use it.

Hopefully the oil will be good for you if your struggling with inhalation.
I have Emphysema but seem to be ok with vaping, my temps vary from low to high. When using a Rosin Cartridge I'm ok and know when to slow down with it as oil on the Lungs takes a little longer to clear.
I'm not sure if a Rosin, Resin or distillate Cartridge would be any good for you, might be worth a try, you would have to Consult your Consultant on this though 👍

I never run on 140, but I imagine unless you have at least 15-20 minute vaping sessions, the flower won't brown out completely. So don't bin that, that's still edible for a mild balancing ride. Melt up some cheese or chocolate and put it in, eat between 0,5g/1g a day depending on your needs, and enjoy getting more out of your meds :)

Very true and I do. I will redo the decarb and throw a few whipped eggs on top. Even the stuff I do at 170-180C gets thrown in a jar for a rainy day. Waste not, want not and all that. The jar is full of green vaped flower, not brown and it smells gorgeous. ;)
