Intros Hi From SW Scotland and a few questions.

Hi Everyone, I am at the start of my journey on MC, a Few quick details about me and some observations on the process I have gone through so far.
My main Medical conditions are Crohns (including a Bowel resection but no bag as yet), Epilepsy, anxiety, Depression and PTSD.
I live in rural SW Scotland (Dumfries and Galloway), although originality from England I have lived here for around 15 years. I have smoked the herb for around 30+ years (yes im old!) Due to horrific BM pricing etc I decided to look into MC, the constant inability to get hold of anything remotely local finally made the decision for me.
I decided to go with Medicann, I have just started the process, but my experiences so far are as follows....
I downloaded the app and straight away ran into problems, the app would not let me complete some of the tasks, and I found the upload medical documents totally confusing!
No where did it say which documents and to make it worse the APP said I had 24 hrs to complete, total panic set in, so in the morning I emailed them.
Shock1. I got a reply almost Instantly!!
Shock2. I was told to ignore the time limit, apparently the app just defaults to it
Shock3. They told me to get a summary of care from the GP's

Fantastic comms to be honest, the main issue for me is my GP isnt listed, despite being the only practice for about 40 miles! The only answer I have had regarding this from them, is to upload my summary of care (I assume they will do the rest their end, but I dont know for sure). My GP practice and my Specialist Gastroenterologist are very anti smoking anything and VERY VERY much against MC, I will deal with that as and when it causes a problem.
Still waiting for summary of care so havnt completed the APP tasks yet.
Im very Keen to connect with others who have Crohns, I am on Biologic injections for it and have not had any remission in last 5 years, I also need further surgery because I have severe narrowing and scar tissue at the site of the last op.

Any recommendations on bud to get the munchies? I have lost over 4 stone in last 5 months and seriously underweight (I am under a clinical dietician for this), I also would like some suggestions on any leaf good for sleep and pain control, I was origanaly prescribed Oxycodone for the pain, but had a horrendous time after 10 years getting off it (bad addiction), thankfully I am off all opiates, but obviously the pain hasnt gone anywhere.

Sorry for all the rambling, I am also Neuro Divergent, so I can be hard to understand. anyway thanks in advance
GM11
Hi GM11 Welcome 2 da MC Cohort! I'm also ND. Mild 2 Mod. to be honest its really difficult to make accurate suggestions as this is subjective to each patient! There are so many different factors that may play a role in what works for you or me or anyone else. Researching the Brand and their products and then watch a few reviews or ask here for opions or feedback.

Useful Resources
  1. Medicann UK affiliated with IPS Pharma

Cougar piss is the worst I have encountered.
I would be able to say that without to much trouble, well in theory 😂, but everything works.....in theory 😂.
I couldn't work in a pharmacy! I would be giggling all day.

I haven't looked through all of them yet, I'm really old skool! My all time fave ever has to be purple haze, followed by OG Cheese and white widow.
If I still lived in SW Devon I would be able to get purple haze, long story but many many moons ago, I worked in Holland, I got a clone of purple haze, getting it back on the hovercraft was terrifying! When I had to stop GYO I gave cutting to a mate, he still has clones from the plant I brought back over 25 years ago!

Brings back memories of my long departed uncle, he used to grow for decades! Magic fingers he was known as, but man he grew some of the best I ever had, happy happy days.
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome, to be honest I was really nervous about posting and of going legal, it's so much easier finding a community like this 👍

Thanks a lot that is very helpful! 👍

Not sure where to post this,so I've put it here. I think I mentioned yesterday that I had a few problems with Medicann app, I sent a support request saying that when I tried to complete the onboarding form, I got to the signature page and it kept saying I had to tick the agree box, however NO such box was visible, I also stated that of course I did agree to everything, but couldn't see any boxes to tick.

I then got a Android message saying my phone had updated and I needed to update 30 apps, one of which was the Medicann app. This fixed my problem and I could complete that task.

So I fired off another email explaining all was good and that task was complete, so kindly disregard my last email.

Now the strange part, and frankly it's one that is making me reconsider going with Medicann, I received a email this evening around 6pm (yes on a Sunday!).
The email stated "their is not a option to tick NO, and doing so would mean I wouldn't be eligible!, it then asked if I had uploaded my medical documents yet (I mean come on, what GP practice is open on rural Scotland at weekends!!).

So I replied as politely as I could, stating that my email was explicit on stating I was unable to see any boxes, and I had intact sorted it out by updating the app.
I also pointed out I had emailed them straight after to inform them that updating the app had sorted the problem, I also pointed out I have informed them 3 times that my GP is slow and it would probably be 2 weeks before I got my summary care.

Got to be honest they are stressing me out a bit. Anymore problems and I think I will go elsewhere. Anyone else getting this kind of nonsense from them?
I don't mean to rant, but really bad pain today.

I applied with Medicann and live in Scotland. I started my app Jan 2nd.
I also happened to browse the Mamedica® website at the same time and filled in an intro form.
Mamedica had pulled my doctors records within a few days without my permission causing a delay at my GP who disregarded my request as a dupilicate.
Mamedica had contacted me back within a week telling me I was accepted...
I got my records two week after mamedica was able too, was immediately accepted by medicann and now have an intro phonecall on the 30th Jan, so there is a 2 week wait to speak to one of the ladies that work there.
All in all in, it took a month with 2 weeks being "my issue" 2 weeks being wait time for appointments with Medicann. Going by most peoples experience there is little delay in between your final call with the doctor and prescription.

So thats my experience, being fair to them the whole app thing is not there fault its just one of those things.
You are gonna need to wait a few weeks after getting those records but they are quick to accept if you qualify.
Other options are rapid but then medicann is free.... so I was prepared to wait, whilst you will have your own priorities I understand and accessing medication as quickly as possible could overturn the fees involved with other clinics.

One hint that I have concerning your local GP if anyone reads this in Scotland.
I think the best way to deal with them is to go in person and tell them that "You want to get some private medical treatment and it is scheduled for next week, You have been asked to get a Summary of Care and Medication/treatments provided in the last 10 years."
That can override the 30 day Subject access request wait time that they will quote you for getting your records and they can get them same day if they bother their arses.
Hope that helps someone.

I will try that, but I only have one option for a GP practice and they are very anti MC...... but it's time to stop the tail wagging the dog!
Thx for the suggestion 👍

At no point does the GP need to be aware what the Private medical treatment is for.
It could be therapy etc.

I think a clinic called Medicann gives the game away, they have said they will contact my GP. I will deal with any problems if/when they crop up.
I have a pretty good hospital MDT, and they have much more input on my care than my GP anyway.
I am so set on going legal, I'm not so sure I care so much now about the GP throwing a fit!

His answer to everything is take up running!!! (He is chair of local running club), I'm in my 60s and last time he mentioned it I said jog on lol😂.

I am lucky in one sense. I live in a big deprived scheme in the city and the GP is bedlam the whole time.
Some guy asking to go private was just what the poor dude on the desk wanted to hear at 4:00pm when I idled in and he had 3 mothers with prams in the queue.

Been browsing desktop vapes, OMG!! I didn't realise you needed a mortgage 😂, but I guess that's why credit cards were invented 😆, that and buying meds! I figure stick meds on cc for section 75 protection and just pay off the card at the end of the month. That way if I get any bad meds I will claim straight back. I do it for any purchase over £100.

Just a quick update, I called my GP this morning to chase up SOC, got told it would be about 2 weeks!

I had a rough night so was in a bad mood anyway, sat for a bit and thought, I'm not taking this constant agro, stormed into surgery, walked straight into GP room, long story short, I had it within 10 mins!

Uploaded it and got excepted almost instantly, arranged first call with Medicann on 11th February (happy days), got appointment with a Niki somebody.

My GP practice still not in app, but turns out my GP practice changed name and address about 30 years ago, and old address and name still listed but the building has been turned into flats long before I lived here, I will sort that on first call.

Thanks a lot for the help from everyone!

Bloody shocking what's on your SOC!! I had no idea I had so many things wrong! There is just about everything except DEAD!😂😂

Not that worried about the call now

Cheers everyone, I update after I've had the call 🤙

No worries mate im always floating around so gimme a shout if your ever stuck with anything + find a useful strain database on my YouTube channel @THCUK in the description of the channel if you want to quickly get familiar with all the strains and ratings etc (this is for all flower, not all available at Medicann atm)
I like your strain review chart on your you tube. It can help point me in the right direction . I see you didn’t mention effects, because suppose they are different for everyone, to a point. Anyway. That’s a sub from me👍 look forward to your content. I’ve made a few travel videos, serious and silly stuff.

Nice one.
Just goes to show that it can be produced on the spot if proper leverage and the right circumstance applies.
Im glad you are not worried about the call now you have got your cards in order.

Was a couple of things from 40 years ago that I wasn't aware of, apparently I was sectioned!! News to me lol. Also says ADDICTED to Cannabis!
Most of this was well before freedom of information.

I ticked no to the ever been sectioned question, but I can't see it being a problem as it was same year I was finally diagnosed as epileptic.
I'm guessing they originally thought I was a nutter, but erratic behaviour after a seizure is pretty common and it was before I was medicated for it.

See what they say during the call, but 40 years is a while ago, I will just explain exactly how I got diagnosed.

Medicann have now seen my SOC. And still booked first call, so I doubt they are worried about it.

No point stressing, it is what it is! Looking forward to it, GP asked what the clinic was for, so I thought FK it, and just told him straight I was applying to a MC clinic. His response was "drug seeking again are we", I said "no actually, I'm looking to finally get some decent help"!

to be honest I was past caring about his reaction!!

This response alone "drug seeking are we" would have me seething.
Well done on remaining calm and completing your mission...
I have been clear with GP's that I use cannabis for 20+ years and have cut it out for stages on their advice and been willingly pumped full of all sorts, in a desperate will for some change.
It was never the issue and once fully diagnosed it was acknowledged that smoking cannabis was understandable for things I suffered with.
My current NHS psych has no issue with me using it to manage sleep/dreams. It just seems you are unlucky with some sort of gatekeeper as a GP.
Its out of their hands now!

Yeah my GP has always made it clear he is very anti cannabis, but I think he has actually done me a favour, hard to argue I should start with 20g if I'm addicted 🤣🤣.
I could see a bit of a power shift, he was really uncomfortable that I knocked hard on the door and stormed in lol. I'm normally really passive and just nod and agree.

They don't like it upem Mr Mannering (if your old enough to know dad's army😂)

No they dont.
I hope getting medical cannabis works for you and you both dont have to see each other so much anymore.
Surely a winwin for both parties 🤷‍♂️

Thank you appreciate the sub :) Yes effects are too subjective so I leave them out, keeping it simple - smell, taste and looks :P

They aren't that bad. Yeah sure if you get one of those super pricey models it's expensive, but if you just start out with something basic before you graduate to a Volcano or Venty, it's affordable. I'd say get a something smaller initially, ideally something you can carry in your pocket so when you are out and about you can still take the odd hit. Then down the line get a desktop version for when you just want to sit back and have a long session.

I went for an XVape Fog Pro (replaceable battery, decent temperature range and portable/small), that cost me about £80. It's fine for what I need. I'm looking for a second one at the minute so i can run the day and night strains in two separate vapes. There are other cheaper but still quality, vapes available.

As to flower, I only order a couple, so not prohibitively expensive. Normally it comes to £120-140 when I order. but if you are one of those people on 12 different strains, then yes it is going to be super expensive.
