This neglects agseedco, ran by Tod McCormick. He’s one of the guys responsible for the original NL line. He now has the original lines available again, so with any hope it can be from this selection.ChatGPT:
what is the best strain of northern lights bud?:
The best strain of Northern Lights bud generally refers to a high-quality, well-bred phenotype of the classic Northern Lights cannabis strain. However, since Northern Lights is one of the most famous and stable Indica strains, there are a few popular versions and breeders who’ve made standout versions of it.
Top Northern Lights Strains & Phenotypes:
1. Northern Lights #5
Genetics: Often considered the best and most potent phenotype of the original NL lineup (#1 to #11).
Effects: Very relaxing, body-heavy, great for pain and insomnia.
THC: Around 18–23%
Why it’s top: It’s won multiple Cannabis Cups and is used in breeding many modern Hybrids like Super Silver Haze and Jack Herer.
2. Sensi Seeds – Northern Lights
Origin: Netherlands
Genetics: Pure Indica (Afghani heritage)
THC: ~16–20%
Why it’s great: One of the most stable, authentic NL experiences—deeply relaxing, fast flowering, and reliable.
Grower’s note: Compact, high-yielding, and easy for indoor grows.
3. ILGM (I Love Growing Marijuana) – Northern Lights Auto
Auto version: Great for beginners or stealth growers
Taste/aroma: Sweet pine and earth
Effect: Calming, less sedative than photo version
4. Royal Queen Seeds – Northern Light
Flavor: Sweeter, fruity twist
Effect: Slightly more uplifting than typical NL strains
Stability: Known for consistent phenotype expression
What Makes a Northern Lights Strain "The Best"?
- Genetic Stability – Clean, consistent Indica effects
- Potency – THC in the 18–23% range
- Smell & Flavor – Classic earthy-pine, sometimes with sweet or spicy notes
- Effects – Relaxation, body buzz, sleep aid, pain relief
- Cultivation Quality – Grown well (e.g., cured properly, resinous, trichome-covered)
If you want the classic, potent experience, go with:
Summary: Best Overall?
If you want ease of grow, look at ILGM or Royal Queen Seeds’ auto versions.
Let me know if you're looking for medical effects, growing tips, or modern Hybrids of NL (like Northern Lights x Haze)!
Never felt so tense about a release! I will also take one for the team as soon as CB1 Medical have it in, saved 30g of my script for this very reason.I would expect so but hopefully we'll get feedback of the actual batch in front of us asap and be able to make a better assessment and if I have to I'll take one for team and order itJust got to find where it is available first
From memory this one could be right up your street but a lot will possibly depend on which version of Northern Lights it is .
There's a few due soon like Cheese and Northern Lights that will carry a lot of hope but we'll have to see as you never know what's going to turn up but I absolutely will be trying 10g of both of those strains .Never felt so tense about a release! I think it was the cheese back in the 90s? that put me off bud and made me recommit to hash, as it left me shaking and trembling all over. Is cheese Sativa? There's a few due soon like Cheese and Northern Lights that will carry a lot of hope but we'll have to see as you never know what's going to turn up but I absolutely will be trying 10g of both of those strains .
It's down as a Hybrid and the cheese I had was in the mid 2000's and would have that effect on some for sure and could be a love/hate for me at times too in the past but would often leave me just vacant for want of a better expression and very un Sativa like effects .I think it was the cheese back in the 90s? that put me off bud and made me recommit to hash, as it left me shaking and trembling all over. Cheese is a relatively low THC mono - terpene dominant skunk variety. Lots of old school skunk seeds came thru like cheese back in late 90s. A cut around London emerged at same time called Tarka. This is very similar to cheese and as such never really got shared or watered down by the likes of big Buddha etc.I think it was the cheese back in the 90s? that put me off bud and made me recommit to hash, as it left me shaking and trembling all over. Hopefully CB1 Medical have it this week coming.Northern Lights now available at IPS![]()
