They're a bit of a gimmick for people who really don't like taking responsibility for their cooking.
If you're someone who regular can't be assed with preparing or making food then they're aimed at you.
If you enjoy the process and like to learn how to do things properly then they're probably not a good fit.
I think it's always easier and better to water cure the
AVB.
Then get a slow cooker, and a pyrex jug. Add your coconut oil and
AVB into the pyrex jug, fill the slow cooker around the jug with water up to about half the height of the jug.
Add some foil as a lid to stop moisture escaping, Put it on slow for 4 hours, stirring every 45 mins or so.
Once it's finished, pour some water into a container with your coconut oil and put it in the fridge to set.
All the water and nasty plant matters will sink to the bottom. And your coconut oil will be solid. As it's an oil it won't mix with the water.
So take your hardened oil out, drain the water and pat the bottom of the oil block dry.
Then simply use whichever edible recipe you want from this point onwards and think of it as regular coconut oil.
If you have a coffee press you can speed up the water curing from 6 days to 90 minutes of constant washing.
You can also use the coffee press to strain your infused coconut oil but cheese cloth is king.
