Hello.

I have been with Releaf for about 4 months and am moving to the Canna Clinic in Cardiff.

I have a Crafty+ and have had a great learning curve with that.

What I could really use help with is figuring out how to choose strains. I am pretty neurodivergent and taste and smell are big factors for me. I prefer pleasant aroma and tastes.

I have lots of gastro pain and ptsd. I have other health issues but these are the biggest reasons I use. It has gotten me off oramorph.

This kind of forum is new to me too.

Welcome, I'm with Cannabis Clinic Cardiff and it's a great clinic to be with, very patient-oriented

The way to figure out strains is largely based on what you are prescribed for / what effects you are looking to get

- Painkiller
- Anxiety calming
- Mood boost
- Sleep
- Focus
- etc etc

From there it's about working out how to get the effects you need at different times of the day - some people need pain killer all day and all night, some people need mood boost and focus during the day, but no sedation, and then something else to get to sleep at night.

And then based on things you've tried you'll be able to start working out what characteristics you are finding beneficial (terpene profiles, genetics, things like that)

If you share some of what you are looking to get from the strains, and what you might have tried before (both what did and didn't help) then people should be able to give some tips on where to start, we are all different, and strains don't work the same on everyone but the community is a useful broad guide, and there will have to be some trial and error to fine tune it for you and your exact circumstances / needs

Thank you ever so much. Right now I am using a Sativa 25thc in the day and an Indica 26thc (Platinum Garlic) at night. Both are 4C Labs. The Indica seems to work better for pain. I have low level almost constant pain and then thunderclap pain. I have auxiliary breast tissue and that basically hurts every time I move either arm.

My mental health is a huge issues. I am on the spectrum and suffer from social anxiety.

The Garlic Plantinum is on the verge of being unpleasant in taste to me.

I vape around 1.5g a day on average and take a THC oil.

My main goals are to delete and erase bad memories, to feel good in my body, both physically and mentally.

I am in STAR therapy with the You Trust.

The past 6 months have been a roller coaster. I moved house end of March, started the STAR therapy beginning of July, when we also found out my fiancé's father had terminal liver cancer. I gave him end of life care and he was gone at the end of August.

For some reason Indica seems to act better at soothing the intense pain.

I also have just been diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. It's a lot.

Yes to your whole list x2! Extra for getting to sleep. That is the nightly challenge. Pain relief and control. The anxiety is getting better but is still bad.

It is a lot, and you are in good company here, many of us myself included have multiple disabilities, long-term conditions and symptoms being managed at once with MC and it's a bit of an art managing to keep all bases covered given the shifting landscape of MC with things going out of stock or being discontinued, but we try and help each other navigate it all on here.

A few scattered suggestions to try from me based on what you shared in that ballpark, I would say:

Daytime with good painkiller effects

A good all-rounder that has a good mood-boost and can be used all day / evening / bedtime:

Indica's which can be used in the daytime without being too sedating:

My all time favourite:

Another thing to consider trying if you haven't already is incorporating some CBD in, for some people, myself included, it can have a lot of complementary and beneficial effects when combined with the THC medication formats (flower, oil, vape carts)

There are balanced flowers you can be prescribed, or you can get it in all sorts of formats over the counter / online

And you can search for / look out for threads on here where people will ask specifically about things like chronic pain and the pain patients will chip in suggestions based on what's available / working for people at the moment

In my consultation I was advised to take a high dose of CBD. That is yet another thing I need to look into.

Also, I believe moving forward I will have to look around and see what products are available then request a prescription for those and then what is the process?

Thank you ever so much. I love you already!🐻💖🐻💖🐻

One more question, please. Because I can get sudden really sharp pain a cartridge type vape was recommended. I wouldn't want a highly processed one. He said there is one that uses pressed flower? But I dont even know where to begin in learning about that.

Thank you again, ever so much.

Welcome @PeaceLoveBear 💚
Like you, I also consume 1.5g of flower a day for pain relief. I started adding CBD drops at 20mg per day and gradually increased upto 70mg and that works really well for me. I generally take my CBD in the morning and flower in the afternoon and evening as this works best to an alleviate my symptoms. I tried CBD flower and it really didn’t agree with me so I tried some oils. No need to buy CBD from your clinic / pharmacy as there are plenty of good options online.

Hey I have some similar issues to you and suffer badly from anxiety and pain I wouldn’t use Sativa strains I use Indica or Hybrid but I really can’t see saliva doing you that much good and it’s really has no pain relief properties for me anyway… and if suffering from anxiety I find Sativa leaning strains can actually make it worse and then affect your evening Indica meds if worried to be say “stoned” in the day don’t your body will of become more tolerant and if you have things to do they work directly from if just sitting on sofa ( say won’t make you sleepy) and can go for Hybrid 50/50 or slightly Indica leaning in the day but I’d just feel like your wasting your money on Sativa especially if you have constant pain you could potentially not have with right combo of meds… and each strain if you google them you can get reviews off leafy and usually says if helps pain anxiety and so on…and reviews and peoples thoughts some recreational users some suck so get good idea I find and you will get used to checking genetics of the plants and parents that help you most
and there also discussions above each med on this app
but I’d definitely think about changing the Sativa or seeing what it’s like with a Hybrid or Indica in the day doesn’t have to be as stong as the bed one but as say if have things to do they work directly than if just staying home xx

So there are distillate cartridges which are the processed ones using carrier oils and added terpenes, vs. resin or rosin ones which are made from flower directly

If you go to the page below it shows the options and states against each which type they are

I avoid distillate personally, and Rosin are higher quality than resin I'd say but more expensive accordingly

The process depends on which clinic you are with

For Cannabis Clinic Cardiff you can either select items through their app, or email a list of what you want

I tried ordering some flower last night but I hit a wall. I will have another go today.

Update: I am on the CC portal now. I am in a lot less pain and it is making sense to me. Cheers guys. Pheww
