Help required please

Hello I recently applied to Medicann for treatment but was denied due to having Suicidal thoughts documented on my record.
Cannabis helps my depression so that I don't get into the Suicidal state but they have said its part of there strict clinical guidelines.
Has anyone else dealt with this and can suggest a solution ?

Welcome, sorry to hear that it's horrible to feel turned away when looking for help, especially if you know that cannabis works!

High volume / low admin clinics can be a little binary I think - you might find that somewhere like Cannabis Clinic Cardiff might be able to be more nuanced since the consultant leads on all cases and they are very patient-oriented

There's the fees to consider there, but if it's affordable for you it's worth an enquiry and see if their response is similar or if they can do something for you

I have sent a message to Cannabis Clinic Cardiff
Just waiting on a response to see what they say.
If the fees are what I'm going to have to pay to be with a clinic that accepts me I'm happy to do that.
Self medicated for over 10 years I know cannabis is the best medication for me with anxiety and depression.
The Suicidal thoughts haven't been around for years thanks to cannabis I just finally decided id like to do it the legally as this will lower my anxiety massively

Welcome @Goldfish420, sorry to hear you're struggling to find a clinic that accepts you easily. As others have said, there's a lot of very binary clinics, whom are risk-adverse, and when there's a potential 'negative indicator' on patient's records they won't accept for risk/liability reasons.

I can't speak to whether Cannabis Clinic Cardiff would accept you or not, but I can say other patients have had similar indicators on their records and have eventually found treatment.

It's definitely worth starting to email around all the listed clinics, and without formally applying - just seeing if any would be willing to consider you, or encourage you to apply nonetheless.

One thing that could help you massively is asking for a supporting letter from your current MH specialist or GP clinic, stating their support for you trialling cannabis-based medications.

I’ve felt pretty low in the past and I’ve still qualified
I’m wondering if you’ve had what they class as a psychotic break and that’s why there denying you

Maybe, I haven't actually seen my full medical report only what's visible on NHS app
Medicann was able to view it with my permission within 1 day.
I have spoken to my doctors and requested full report which is estimated around 3 weeks.
Until I see my record in full I'm unsure what's written to cause them to refuse straight away without any further questions. I just know its due to having suicidal on my record somewhere because they replied to my email when I asked why I was refused

Little update I applied too CB1 Medical after emailing them they couldn't guarantee acceptance but suggested I had good chance only to be removed from the app over night. No reason again just back to square one even after taking money.
It appears If you have Suicidal in your past it's nearly impossible to get MC without having to pay top dollar.

Shame you cannot contact them today for clarification as it all seems a bit abrupt without an explanation to accompany any action .

Yes I have emailed them but they are closed weekends so hopefully get a reply Monday to find out why I was rejected as I had got through eligibility and also booked first consultation so I thought it was looking promising.
Also I think when Medicann first got my SOC report they have uploaded it so when I joined CB1 Medical it was already in the documents section on the app so they already knew my record but then suddenly rejected me from the app early this morning which I thought is odd as they claim closed weekends

Ah thinking about it they are open as they approved a prescription for my wife today but not to the public by phone etc
CB1 have contact with the NHS and can retrieve your records themselves with your permission

When you say rejected from the app what do you mean as in no login or a notice of rejection from the clinic in some form.

This is good news
I suspected all may not be lost as you are into the process now with money paid so would of sort of expected an explanation to accompany any rejection .
Fingers crossed for the start of the week then

I would probably leave it until monday when you can get guidance from the other end and news of any appointment .
Also could what you saw in the app yesterday be related to Medicann and now it's been cleared out ready for use by CB1 Medical as they both use the same app

Script assist apps are quite shit and typically bug out if you have another script assist app installed. I don't know if you have any other clinic apps installed but it may be the reason CB1 Medical is freaking out on you.

I hope things get sorted for you mate, sounds like it's been a stressful ball to get rolling!
