Hi Everyone, I am at the start of my journey on MC, a Few quick details about me and some observations on the process I have gone through so far.
My main Medical conditions are Crohns (including a Bowel resection but no bag as yet), Epilepsy, anxiety, Depression and PTSD.
I live in rural SW Scotland (Dumfries and Galloway), although originality from England I have lived here for around 15 years. I have smoked the herb for around 30+ years (yes im old!) Due to horrific BM pricing etc I decided to look into MC, the constant inability to get hold of anything remotely local finally made the decision for me.
I decided to go with Medicann, I have just started the process, but my experiences so far are as follows....
I downloaded the app and straight away ran into problems, the app would not let me complete some of the tasks, and I found the upload medical documents totally confusing!
No where did it say which documents and to make it worse the APP said I had 24 hrs to complete, total panic set in, so in the morning I emailed them.
Shock1. I got a reply almost Instantly!!
Shock2. I was told to ignore the time limit, apparently the app just defaults to it
Shock3. They told me to get a summary of care from the GP's

Fantastic comms to be honest, the main issue for me is my GP isnt listed, despite being the only practice for about 40 miles! The only answer I have had regarding this from them, is to upload my summary of care (I assume they will do the rest their end, but I dont know for sure). My GP practice and my Specialist Gastroenterologist are very anti smoking anything and VERY VERY much against MC, I will deal with that as and when it causes a problem.
Still waiting for summary of care so havnt completed the APP tasks yet.
Im very Keen to connect with others who have Crohns, I am on Biologic injections for it and have not had any remission in last 5 years, I also need further surgery because I have severe narrowing and scar tissue at the site of the last op.

Any recommendations on bud to get the munchies? I have lost over 4 stone in last 5 months and seriously underweight (I am under a clinical dietician for this), I also would like some suggestions on any leaf good for sleep and pain control, I was origanaly prescribed Oxycodone for the pain, but had a horrendous time after 10 years getting off it (bad addiction), thankfully I am off all opiates, but obviously the pain hasnt gone anywhere.

Sorry for all the rambling, I am also Neuro Divergent, so I can be hard to understand. anyway thanks in advance

Hi mate welcome to the community!

Im from Glasgow + with Medicann so I might be able to clear things up a bit here for you...

I also have very similar medical issues....

Basically its a really bad time to have joined them (theyve just had a new app update which is causing quite a few issues so theyre on catch up mode atm)

As for your practice not being listed dont worry just explain that via email or on your first telephone consul with nikki/lauren whoever you get

If your having any issues getting your SCR Medicann can retrieve it on your behalf (takes 3-5 days)

List of a few good meds to get you started with Medicann atm are:

Pave34
OG Kush Breath
Rainbow Sherbet
Pink Kush
Supreme Diesel
Donkey Butter
Banana Daddy
Miracle Alien Cookies - Miracle Valley Canada
RS11
Ripped off Runtz

Hope this helps a bit

Thanks a lot for the info. Yes actually the app has updated 3 times for me today, I could see or press any of the agree things on the sign up, but last update fixed that😊. Sounds stupid but it's more nerve wracking going legal than the BM lol.
I didn't have much choice as nothing remotely local (I can't drive because of epilepsy) is worth paying for! It's gets called different names, but all the BM stuff I have got all seems Exactly the same stuff just with a different name lol. Thanks for the welcome

Welcome to the community @GM11 and lets hope things fall into place summary of care wise , also I used to think you could not be prescribed MC if on Biologics but have recently found out you can as my wife is now on them and to be fair her specialist is supportive of her using MC although she isn't treated for Crohns but it shows the changing attitudes in the NHS finally 🙌

As mentioned by @Scriptoh your clinic has recently updated their app so not ideal but I'm sure the teething problems will be ironed soon enough 🤞

Part of the reason for going MC is because of the biologics, mine are every week and as I'm sure your wife knows, the side affects are horrific! I'm coming up to 4yrs on them and it's rough.

I take a few different meds for epilepsy (I have temporal lobe and shortwave epilepsy), one drug in particular utterly destroys your memory, but at the moment its that or the coffin ⚰️! Actually I have to say Medicann have been great at replying almost instantly, I can't fault them for that, as for the app, 90%is probably me! old geezer who isn't great with technology 😂.

Still early days with hers and fortnightly but she does notice the effects wane before the two weeks are up so may move onto weekly in the future and the side effects have not been too bad although she had a bad episode of not being able to control her temperature for a week or so but the effects on her disease activity have been pretty staggering but obviously you have been on them much longer and would have experienced the ups and downs in that time.

I started fortnightly and it wasn't too bad, but my Crohn's is hyper aggressive, the biologics do make a difference to the disease but so many factors come into play. The one I'm on is called Amgivita (brand name as I can't spell the ridiculous drug name).
I complain about the side effects, however before I was on biologics I would spend 2 to 3 weeks in hospital every month, now it's more like a week every 2 months, so it's worth it from that perspective.
Odd temperature swings are normal now and then, especially night sweats. It takes 6 to 12 months to settle. I was dropped back to fortnightly for 3 months last year, mainly because my blood tests went Haywire. Going back to weekly has been harder this time.

It's probably the strongest one out of all of them, most people at the hospital I meet who are on it, have a few side effects. Probably the best advice I was given was to avoid ANYONE with colds etc, it lowers your immune system a lot! So it's often hard to tell if it's the drug or you have picked up a bug, all my mates are aware and always warn me if they have colds etc.

For many on it, it seems to mess with your vision, my vision alters throughout the day.
Swapping injection sites is a must IMHO, I do one side of stomach one week, then opposite thigh the next, then opposite side of the stomach and so on.

In my experience it stops the dreaded lumps forming, also I put the injector under my armpit for 10 mins to warm it up before taking it, I found that really takes the sting out of it!
