How did you tell your employer you are a medical cannabis patient?

and how did it turn out? I'm thinking about if i should let my work know or not but in the 5 years ive worked there ive never had to do a drug test.

I just told my manager in a regular meeting with them and it was fine, you are protected under equality act 2010 not to be discriminated against for taking prescribed meds so I knew if I got any shit I am covered. Luckily they were just like 'great, hope it helps'

I want to spread the word though, I tell a lot of people about it

I haven't told them but I am considering it. I WFH most of the time but also travel fairly frequently and at some point that will be to a country with banned MC so I need to consider it myself.

A few of my colleagues know but nobody else does. Its an American company as well and half the staff are on MC in the U.S. but I just can't be arsed with the back and fourth over it all.

Most of my interactions lately have been quite negative unfortunately, so I'm keeping hold of it for now.

i know you dont have to disclose it to your work by law but i also think if a random drugs test comes in and then i say im a medical cannabis patient before the test they would then probbaly just fire me

I'm fairly sure as long as you disclose before you get tested, even if its random. Like before you do it say "hey, I'm a MC patients" and then your defence is still valid.

Disclosing after a positive test is more problematic from what I've read.

I work in tech and half my execs do more nose candy than half of South America so a drug test would probably fold my company lol.
