Clinic
Still Deciding
Hello community, I'm hopeful that some of you may be able to answer some questions I have about registering with a clinic? First some background: I've been using black market for some years, began as a recreational user, eventually realised that it was also helping with several medical conditions such as pain and low level stress / depression. I would like to stop using BM product for all the usual reasons - the legal aspect, consistency of product, and not needing to be offered crack / smack / really cheap nearly new telly to go with my weed. I have several questions, not sure if I should ask them all here in one go, so if this is not OK I am happy to start threads for each question. So here we go...

I have COPD and currently vape flower on low heat or through a water pipe. I don't want to come off my meds for COPD but would like MC for pain and stress and sleeplessness. Would a clinic allow me to be prescribed flower , as I appreciate the immediate effect, am familiar with the effects and enjoy the taste? I imagine it would be more sensible to go over to oil, but I have never tried oils and am a bit uncertain... Ideally I would like to be prescribed a small amount of one flower strain to help motivate me and get me active during the day, and another strain to get me to sleep at night, and an oil to try in the evenings with a view of moving over to just oil at some point. Does this sound feasible?

I get the impression most people use flower, so there is a reason why most don't use the oils instead as it must be a healthier option lung wise?

Are there different oils for helping with motivation and energy and other oils for deep relaxation and sleep, as there are flower strains?

Do the clinics allow you to choose from the various strains and products?

I see people reviewing many strains, can you choose different strains each month or are you expected to stick to the first strains you are prescribed?

As mentioned I have an incurable, irreversible lung disease (as yet in quite early stage, does not really impede me in daily life) and I am happy with my meds for this. However knowing that over time the condition will worsen eventually resulting in my demise causes me some level of stress / anxiety / depression, which I currently self medicate very successfully with street weed. I also have arthritic pain that stops me sleeping properly as I continually wake up to turn over to get comfortable. Again, street weed has helped with this. However I have never been to my GP for the stress / depression or the pain as I definitely do not want to be prescribed the drugs they seem to prefer as we all know about their serious side effects etc. Will this stop a clinic from accepting me? Will I need to go to my GP and try two treatments for some months first before I can apply to a clinic? This one is really bothering me and I would appreciate advice on any of my questions, but this one in particular.

Thanks in advance for your patience and advice, and sorry about the long post. Cheers.

Welcome @AlThePal101 and its perfectly fine to put your post where you did and we'll see if we can answer your questions (y)

Many here have come from a similar background BM wise myself included and have used flower for many years and have continued as we've transferred onto MC and with the COPD it will be good to get proper medical advice regards how to medicate with MC going forward (y)

As stated above most have come from a flower background I'd suggest but also the oils offer less value for money but also can be essential in some cases as you'll probably appreciate and could be great for you.

Are there different oils for helping with motivation and energy and other oils for deep relaxation and sleep, as there are flower strains?
Yes there are oils made from different strains to give different effects as needed .

Do the clinics allow you to choose from the various strains and products?
Yes most do but will guide you where advice is needed and whether a certain route of administration is suitable for you .ie vaping /edibles or oils or a combination .

I see people reviewing many strains, can you choose different strains each month or are you expected to stick to the first strains you are prescribed?
Depending on the clinic you choose some will let you pick your strains/products from the start within agreed limits you've agreed on your consultation .

Any more help just ask and we'll help you get a bit of clarity on it all(y)

Thanks so much for the quick response, it is really appreciated! Would you be able to advise regarding my last question - " I have never been to my GP for the stress / depression or the pain as I definitely do not want to be prescribed the drugs they seem to prefer as we all know about their serious side effects etc. Will this stop a clinic from accepting me? Will I need to go to my GP and try two treatments for some months first before I can apply to a clinic? " - thanks again.

Good question and probably judged on an individual basis from clinic to clinic and patient to patient as I myself have been very reserved about taking pharmaceutical medications for stress and other things but over the years I'd tried two for a very brief amount of time but with your continual BM use over the years helping you greatly you would hope this counts for something as it is this your trying to replace down the legal route .

Whilst this could be a temporary stumbling block I'd suggest applying and explaining like you did here.

Applying can be done online followed by a phone call to explain your predicament and reasoning and suggested ways forward and will not cost anything unless you are accepted and they may suggest you try Pharmaceuticals for a trial period or they may be more understanding to your plight but not already being prescribed qualifying meds yet is not the end of the road but just a hurdle to over come .

I would suggest making a speculative application to see where you stand and then we can take it from there as we'd find out if anything needs to be done going forward to satisfy their criteria .
