Hey guys 👋 as the title says really...

CB1 Medical have recommended that I should be having 2 days off per week from medicating, and 2 weeks straight off every 3 months. I was told this is to reduce the chances of cannabis induced psychosis occuring in the future and also to ensure treatment remains effective.

I am prescribed for both physical and mental health reasons (pain relief, anxiety, depression, ADHD). Have used 'recreationally' for over 20 years and have been a patient for just over 12 months. Since being prescribed, I have exclusively vaporized my medical flower. My limits are 40g / 27% THC, and have been since June. Im generally consuming 30g of 24% on average pm and feeling pretty well. Certainly much, much better than when I was smoking 120g pm.

Is this something other people have been advised? I'm aware of building tolerances, strain lock, things becoming less effective over time etc ... But Ive never been told I should be having days off away from medicating, and I've certainly never heard that I should have 2 weeks off completely every 3 months...

If you have been given this advice, how do you achieve this? I have days where I can vape 0.5g (hella proud of those days), but honestly, the idea of having none, particularly having none for 2 weeks, fills me with dread and anxiety.

Any advice or insight appreciated 🙏

Hey bud

Here's a thread where we talked about it recently if you want to have a gander, and then ask any further specifics you might have?

Appreciate that, Ty 🙏 I must have missed that thread, and agree wholly with your comments. I think it's medical advice given to be sure they are covered. But if they expect me to know what days I'll be least divergent then they'd probably have better luck asking me to predict tonight's lotto numbers.

I was quite shocked to hear the advice with no suggestions on how to achieve it, other than cold turkey... Imagine telling someone not to take their SSRI every day, or to skip their heart meds for 2 weeks incase they build a dependency on it 👀

It's saddening that bro-science is coming from staff at a clinic. I've been using this herb for over five decades, mostly for medical reasons; ruptured disc, arthritis pain etc. I do not take breaks for medical reasons, just the careers I retired from... where it became a weekend thing.

Under 20 perhaps so, I don't enjoy hearing of youngsters using a lot recreationally as it evidenced that that does cause problems. But yourself with such a diagnosis, then give no guidance. Not good.

I usually do not use until lunch time, that's likely an old blokes thing, sun is over the yard arm 8) But if I need too, I do.

I honestly feel this is bad advice , If they would concentrate on terpene % as they do THC % then their so called meds will be far more effective than a so called tollerance break , Try that advice with someone like me with epilepsy and something bad happens while off meds then i would say they could be wrong . Coming off meds might cause more of a psychotic episode than on them.

They should be advising using CBD through faah to combat THC being innefective which in itself can buffer psychotic effects of THC 2 birds 1 stoneD by using CBD effectively. I think CB1 Medical receptors increase by 50% over 5 days without cannabis , i used to do it but new terpenes and CBD is far more effective than coming off it to upregulate and reset , It may be me thats wrong but i dont fkn think so !!

A random Dr at CB1 Medical advised me to do this and also to make sure I take CBD daily, I try to do 1 day per week but for the past few weeks I have noticed a flare up in my pain and it’s always the evening of the day off and the day after.
