Flower Mega-Thread: Asking for Strain Recommendations

It's a struggle to hit the parameters you shared to be honest.

I have quite a few which hit the price point but they have been discontinued, or are non-irradiated but too expensive, or fit everything else and are beta-irradiated, etc, etc

So I'm going to share a few of what works for me / hasn't been discontinued / isn't from one of the shittier companies which I don't want to recommend to anyone anymore, and let you work out if you are able to stretch on something to get it :)

Daytime I would suggest the following in ranked order:
1. 4C Labs, Lucy In the Sky - this is my #1 strain of all time for making me feel 'better' and still able to deal with things during the day
2. 4C Labs, Moby Dick - similar to Lucy but just missing Lucy's extra sparkle on the effects
3. Aurora®, Electric Honeydew vape cartridge or flower - super mood booster, good for daytime and afternoon

For evening, if you want that anxiety supression I would seek ouy Linalool in the terpene profiles like I said, and usually anything with a 'Cake', 'Wedding' mention in the genetics is in the right place, some good examples of ones which relax and soothe anxiety:

- Peace Naturals®, Wedding Cake
- Aurora®, Sourdough vape cart or flower
- Phant, Pink D1 minis

Galactic cake would have been my #1 in this last list of 'relaxing but not forcing me to sleep' but they just discontinued it - if you find some remaining stock it's worth experiencing I think!

Hope it helps
That's awesome, thanks!

The Aurora® carts are defo my first choice.

Lucy In the Sky - interesting! I'd been reading about terpinolene being the main terp to avoid for anxiety management, and here you go recommending a terpinolene-dominant strain! A little research on Reddit (don't judge me, ha) says that it's a great terp for ADHD, with one user even referring to it as WEEDerall, crediting that paradoxical stimulant effect which seems to work for ADHD. Very interesting indeed.

One more thing, if you'll humour me ... Anyone else is welcome to chime in, too, of course. Both of the 4C Labs strains are beta-irradiated. What's you opinion on irradiated weed, and on the difference between beta and gamma? I was under the impression radiation destroys terpenes and reduces therapeutic benefits, leaving only the effects of THC. Educate me, lovely people!

I have a few recs, I'm usually quite Sativa heavy but I'll look more towards the calming strains and Indicas. Quite a few on here love there heavy Indicas.

On Irradiation, the only "bad" irradiation is Gamma Radiation, this gives flower a hay taste to it. Outside of that it's largely inconsequential although E-Beam is becoming the go-to in the North American medical markets because it is supposed to cause next to no alterations to the flower.

most of our flower is remediated and this is where I think a lot of us have problems because it's never disclosed but it's so critically important. Remediation gives companies the opportunity to cut corners in the growing cycle and to my understanding is where that typical damp, swampy smell comes from in a lot of Medical.

This means that even non-irradiated flower has likely been through some form of remediation and we are none the wiser.

That's my 2 cents on it all anyway.

Day Flower:

Upstate - Orange Mimosa Punch (20%) - Beta Irradiated
I love this flower, it's beautifully terpy and has strong orange/grapefruit flavours. It's not going to blast you to space so its a good daytime option. It's one of my favourite medical flowers, especially at the price. Reminds me of being a teenager.

Hexacan® - Mango Cross (22%) - Beta Irradiated
This is on the cheaper end of the spectrum and current OOS. but its a non-racy Sativa. It's probably not the best in looks, flavour or smell but if we're talking effects then I can't really fault it to much. I probably wouldn't recommend this over most over options but it is an option.

4C Labs - Sudz (17%) - Beta Irradiated
Who isn't a big fan of Sudz? Stronger than 17% but still mellow enough for all round day time usage. Even at it's original £90 pricing I thought this was nice. at £55 it's beyond a steal.

All Nations - Mac Daddy (22%) - Non Irradiated
I find MAC is great for daytime and I'm fairly sure it's a favourite of a lot of pain patients as well.

Curaleaf - Tripoli (20%) Beta Irradiated
I love Tripoli for daytime usage, it's a bit like Mango cross in that it's not top tier flower but for the £59 range it's really nice.

4C Labs - Jokerz (18%) Beta Irradiated
This place considers Jokerz to be royalty and I can't say I disagree in the slightest. This is one of my favourite strains available and I'm going to be gutted when it goes OOS.

Upstate - Pineapple God (26%) Beta Irradiated
Pineapple God is great for what it is. A <£70 strain with some Sativa like effects in terms of mood uplift but there's no raciness or anxiety at play with it. It's an Upstate product so its not going to be the best but it is nice, especially in the day.

Mamedica® - Flawless Victory (28%) Beta Irradiated
I think this is OOS at the moment but I found it great for daytime usage, uplifting and it provided a bit of energy without any overwhelming sensations. I think this got some mixed reviews but I thought it was great.

4C Labs - Alaskan Thunder (29%) Beta Irradiated
Elite, Elite Elite flower. My 2nd favourite strain on Medical. I'd rather none of you buy it but holy hell its fantastic. It's a chill Sativa but one of those ones where you can also bounce about if you need to, there's no monging out here. To much of it may put you to sleep but in general it's perfect for day time usage. It's quite piney/menthol vibes.

Plantations Ceres No. 2 - Slurricane Mint (27%) Non Irradiated
It breaks my heart that this is currently OOS. I said Alaskan Thunder was my 2nd favourite, well Slurricane Mint is my all GOAT. I don't even want to big it up because I want it all to myself. It's in Indica Hybrid and I personally enjoy it for the latter half of the day into the evening. I do use it all through the day as well because its just to tasty!

Primacann - Bonne Nuit Bonbon (26%) Beta Irradiated
So, I actually hate this flower with a burning passion. I think it tastes like hot air and provides minimal effects in the way of bouncy energy or typical Sativa labrador-ness. BUT I think for someone who doesn't want anything that is overwhelming then this could be a very good relaxing day time option. I wouldn't buy it again. Actually, I'm not even sure why I mentioned this.

Evening Flower:

Peace Naturals® -
Wedding Cake (27%) - Beta Irradiated
This is one of the only Girl Scout lineage strains I fuck with. It's really relaxing and although it's not quite a knockout for me it is brilliant for getting me into that mong out zone before bed.

Tyson 2.0 - Tiger Milk (28%) - Non Irradiated
I'm still in shock at how much I love this, It's been a regular for month and it's one of like 3 strains that actually knocks me out. It's a real acquired taste and it isn't for everyone as its a real musky, swampy earthy kush but holy hell is it effective. I'm about to smash my way through a few bowls when I've finished writing this. The current batch is by far the best I've had of any Tyson 2.0 flower on medical to date.

4C Labs - Pink Kush (21%) Beta Irradiated
I've never actually ahd this PK and I do hear it's inconsistency from many but Pink Kush can be wonderful on a good batch and it definitely punches above it's weight. I'd recommend it but if you're ever able to get the Therismos/Wellfords version or the Aurora® version then definitely do so.

Khiron - Hindu Kush (20%) - Gamma Irradiated
I won't beat around the bush here. Gamma Irradiation is shit but Hindu Kush is a classic for evening/sleep and by and large doesn't suffer from the common hay terpenes we've come to know and hate. At the price point it's great and I would recommend it over 4C Labs's Pink Kush.

If you can stretch into the £8pg range then I would also really recommend Herdade Das Barrocas - Chapel of Love (night) and Herdade Das Barrocas Tigerz Eye (day). The Chapel of Love knocks me out, it's just some beautiful flower and the Tigerz Eye is a really solid all day option.

I have some pictures and microscopic footage I can upload tomorrow to give you some ideas of the quality of the flowers.

I appreciate this is on the expensive end but Green Karat - Pave S1 is probably the best we have on medical at the moment and fits a similar profile of flavour to Alaskan Thunder and Slurricane Mint. So if it ever drops in price or if you ever give a £9pg flower a go then I would highly, highly recommend it.

What @joint_account said really.

Ideally we'd want no remediation of weed (except people who have compromised immune systems or similar conditions which mean they will need fully irradiated choices)

But Beta isn't too much to be worried about, I avoid gamma though

It should all be non irradiated for people who are not immune compromised, full-stop. All of GLO's flower in the Isle of Man is going to be non irradiated but would Imagine a little of it would be for people who've invested and are compromised. I dont care what anyone says that you don't loose anything with radiation, You Do! It's a load of Bull what we are told!

I'm sure the beta causes some loss of potentcy too, but relative to gamma it's minimal I would say based on experiences woith MC - beta doesn't put me off a strain

Ideally though yeah we should have the option for every strain to either have it come no irradiation, or gamma for those who need it

Definitely has a negative effect imo and obviously beta less than gamma in most instances and even non irradiated often has remediation that Lank alludes to in an earlier post and whilst it's needed for some hopefully technique's advance at least to make it less detrimental to the product in the future or that it is needed to be used less by producers .

Some strains of flower should not be irradiated, its tastes awful, certain strains just can't take irriadiation.

I had to grab some new videos/pictures if Alaskan Thunder and I have only .5g left so it's not the best and the Slurricane Mint was done a few months back.

I've added some new stuff from the latest batch of Tiger Milk. Tell me that shit doesn't look beautiful!

I don't think the Slurricane looks particularly great in the images and maybe it isn't much to look at especially in terms of trichome count but Its effects are unbelievable.

I've just compared the Alaskan Thunder footage to other 4C Labs footage I have and it does look shit in comparison to the likes of Sudz, Moby Dick, Super G Citra, etc. Especially the footage I have here - its the end of the last batch so it isn't the freshest stuff ever, like I said for the Slurricane Mint I can't fault the effects at all.

I captured all of this for Tiger Milk this morning and holy shit I didn't think it looked so sparkly! Compared to the other 2 it looks very premium and in my opinion it is quite a premium sleep flower. I can't think of many, if any flower that looks better in that £75 range. Funnily enough the only footage I have that comes close in looks for that price range is Tyson 2.0 Haymaker Haze (inside footage / outside footage)

Thanks, GH. The impressions that I'm getting about MC is that if flower is your thing, it's difficult to get consistent access to a preferred strain and equally difficult to get consistent quality across multiple batches of the same strain. It all sounds quite hit and miss and a very expensive gamble! And that's before we even get started on the Great Irradiation Debate.Still, MC *does* allow better access to therapeutic strains than BM. It certainly sounds like the industry isn't quite there yet.

Keep your fingers crossed for me that I get approved for the Aurora® carts on my first script, as they defo sound like the right choice for me, personally. After great efforts made to stop smoking tobacco, I'm really loathe to vape flower unless I have to. I've tried it before, for quite a while, and the experience is too close to smoking j's (the taste, the smell) for me to have confidence that I'll stay away from the *real* demon weed.

Appreciate the insights, Lank. Lots of food for thought :)

I will say be pretty adamant that the vapes you see as a real positive and I do see why they shouldn't prescribe them so here's hoping it's a formality and with the right vape cart the consistency is going to be pretty much certain 🤞 🙏

@JayG303 I added some images/videos of Tiger Milk here, figure it may be interesting for you now its on your script!

Thanks mate I appreciate that. It looks really good, how is it in term of effects? I was meant to get mine today but its going to be Monday now.
I think it's fantastic to be honest with you.

My use case for it is mainly sleep related but last night was a great example of why I love it.

So I had a bit of a rough work day, struggled to shut my brain down and It was racing all evening. I hit some Chapel of Love and my mind was still wide awake, then I hit a huge bowl of Pave and my head was still racing. Pave is usually a guarantee to shut my brain down and glazing my eyes but this time it did nothing.

I wasn't going to reach for the Tiger Milk because if those two weren't working then I didn't hold out much hope here but I caved and did a couple of bowls. Within minutes my eyes were heavy, my body was really relaxed and my mind really quietened down, it was just a very warm, blissful sleepy high.

A good Kush will always send me to sleep but TM just hits me differently. I know a lot of people really can't get over the taste but I've started to really enjoy it.

That sounds perfect for me, hopefully it hits me the same. Unfortunately some of the daytime strains or heavy Sativas don't do a thing to me and on the odd occasion a haze or similar will actually make my anxiety worse. I have to be really choosy which I hate but for some reason its Indicas that work for me and give me that de-stress feeling. I was actually looking at Pave, the Tiger Milks a quid or two cheaper so if it works I'll order more and leave the Pave for now.
