Hello,

I found these forums really useful when I first started my journey, so I thought I’d share my experience to help others.

There wasn’t much information on here about Dispensed, but I decided to give them a try as they seemed good value overall.

They were very helpful and communicated well throughout the initial process.

I’ve had two previous knee operations due to cartilage damage and still experience daily pain. Until now, I’d been managing this with lifestyle changes, over-the-counter painkillers, and some BM treatment.

Dispensed initially planned to request my SCR from my GP, but I chose to do this myself as I found their template letter a bit blunt.

While waiting for my SCR, I had an online consultation with one of their doctors. She was pleasant and professional, and advised that she would prescribe 10g of Sativa, 10g of Indica, and 25ml of oil, provided my medical notes supported what I had explained.

After waiting 28 days for my SCR from my GP, I forwarded it to Dispensed. My case was then approved by the board, and my prescription became available to order.

From start to receiving my prescription took around two months, with about half of that time spent waiting for my GP.

I ordered everything that was available to me, and it arrived a couple of days later via DPD. The results were a revelation. The quality was noticeably better than any BM flower I’d had previously.

Once I ran out of flower, I requested a repeat prescription but was required to have a follow-up consultation with the doctor. We discussed how things were going, and she prescribed another 20g of flower. I still had oil remaining, so I didn’t need more.

So far, the only downside is that the doctor decides which medication is prescribed, meaning I don’t have much control over product choice or costs. It works out at roughly £80–£90 per 10g.

I’ve noticed on the MedBud wiki that there are flowers available at significantly lower prices than what I’ve been paying.

Would I need to change clinics to access these products? Any advice would be appreciated.

Welcome,

You are supposed to be able to access any CBPMs from any pharmacy, but the way some canna clinics set up their business model they don't make any money if you do this, so they either make it hard or don't let you.

So whilst in theory you shouldn't have to move, in practise (until clinics are made to operate in a fully compliant way) you most likely will need to move clinic.

My clinic is the only one I'm aware of which truly allows that full access to anything at any time, other clinics will have differing levels of restrictions on what they will prescribe, but most will at least let the patient choose what exactly the items prescribed are within the formulary.

If you take a look at the clinics page there is a summary table with more info / warnings etc

Thank for the info. I guess I need to weigh up the costs of paying to join the Cardiff Clinic, the monthly fees, but having freedom and cheaper products, against my free membership and high product prices 🤔

I might have a chat with the doctor before my next prescription and see if they have any budget options in the first instance.

I'm really enjoying the oil I have been prescribed, but there seems to be a massive lag time between taking it and feeling the effects. Sometimes 4 hours. It's making it hard times the doses.

Welcome @MizzlePizzle and thankfully you have time on your hands as you are already being prescribed with regards clinic choices 🙏 and with oil I find the onset of effects a lot slower than with flower but usually within the first hour but with a lot longer lasting effect.

Hi mate welcome to the community,

I would highly recommended jumping over to Medicann at this point to relieve the stress and allow flexibility of choosing your own medications at your own budget. Medicann are quick and easy to swap over to + no upfront costs or monthly payments just pay £5 per delivery at your own leisure as of when required. You will have a set allowance like every other patient (150g at the moment) and be monitored month to month and this will be discussed on your reviews, you will also not have a set THC limit (you can order anything you feel you require which may also include oils and vapes without further need of review)

We all currently have access to flower starting at £45+ which is surprisingly good quality too so its well worth moving imho
