Clinic
Still Deciding
Hello everyone! A bit about me ill try to keep it short! for a long time I have suffered with Anxiety and depression and this past year it's been at its worse I hardly leave the house and find less enjoyment out of what I would usually do to occupy my time. Thankfully I live with family so I'm not alone and I'm super grateful for that. The antidepressants haven't seem to help at all so I figured MC would be worth a shot I used to self medicate for a few years, years ago.

So I'm almost a week in on my first prescription and I could use some advise, or hear your opinions as I have quite a few questions and I'm not sure where best to create a post? Is this thread okay?

I know the community here is super helpful I see it when browsing threads, and I was grateful for all the support given whilst I was struggling to get a clinic to accept me.

Hope your all well! :)

Yes no problem crack on mate and feel free to talk about /ask about things you would like others opinions on ,I myself suffer anxiety and low mood and this is what I'm treated for .
I've also had spells where I was practically housebound in the past and struggled to find enjoyment in things but hopefully I have it better controlled now and whilst it surfaces sometimes usually it's nowhere near as bad as in the past and I hope you can find similar relief (y)

Many on here I reckon will have similar symptoms to yourself and will probably join in and share what helps them or their thoughts on things you want to discuss so feel free to fire away and ask.:)

Thanks mate @GrownHealth Great to hear your doing good! And it's great as you'll be speaking from experiences similar to myself then.

I haven't had anything in over 2 years so my tolerance would be very low and im aware of this. I was prescribed Humble warrior for daytime use starting at 0.1g a day and build up over time.

So when I vape that 0.1g I initially feel quite anxious and a little self conscious, it's as if it's amplified how I really feel. This is for around 20 or 30 minutes and then after that I feel uplifted and content for a few hours. I know it's early days still in the first week but I overthink everything as usual.

Tollerance is probably playing a big part in the anxiety feeling as your body will go fight or flight from the changes it's not used to.

If your feeling that way it could be the strains you have.

Don't feel like you need to stick to the exacts of the prescribed numbers try less and work your way up if you need to. Or wait till later in the day before you first medicate to help with getting your body into a relaxed state.

find a level that works for you everybody is different when it comes to using cannabis for specific Medical issues. It's finding what hits that spot for you kind of medication.

It will build up rather quickly. I still get anxiety if I smoke too much and ive been a habitual user for way to many years on and off.

when it's my first dose of the day or if it's a Sativa leaning cultivars These can send me down the ah shit I'm too high for an hour route it's completely normal to feel how you do.

Any questions are welcome here. We are all here to help each other and you aren't going to be judged for knowing more or less than anybody else

Edit: vape too much I still say smoke but I mean vape. It's the dirty Stoner in me

Just looking at what you say they have started you slowly which sounds wise as your starting from nothing but do you mean vape 0.1 a few times per day as an when needed or just once a day because I need a steady flow through the passage of the day to keep everything in check, currently I'm going through a bit of anxiety and am finding certain strains exasperating it ,I suppose like the feeling your getting for the first 20 mins after consuming luckily this changes for you into a relaxed state but certain strains will relax you from the off , the feeling of being contented and uplifted suggests it's working for you at this stage of your journey .
I would suggest the initial 20 mins of exagerated symptoms could be down to fact the strain you have is a Sativa and this would give you a sharp uplift feeling ,where as I tend to use a Sativa Hybrid to start the day so I don't get that initial rush.

Fantastic advice @GrownHealth and @Rainbone 💪

I can't add anything except take your time mate, your at the start of a journey to recovery, be kind to yourself. I'm a senior member of the overthinkers club, and I suspect were not alone here lol oh and welcome, you found the right place. :)

Thankyou @Rainbone @node

Great advice, thankyou for the input and advice! Good to know im not alone in my experience.

From the advise I'm going to look at reducing the amount put in the vape and hold off until a little later in the day. I will try to bee kind to myself and hopefully this is a step to getting better.

Perhaps a Hybrid will be worth a shot next script. Obviously my past experience was BM so never knew what kinda strain It was... they were all stardawg apparently haha.

The Stardawg and such caused me problems and was probably more of a hinderance than help to myself ,where as something a bit in the middle or Sativa leaning is good in the daytime for me as it keeps my mind active and clear without going into hyperdrive.
The strain you currently have is a Sativa Landrace strain so is fully at the Sativa end where as I would suggest Stardawg type strains that you had previously has quite different medicinal properties about them and my wife loves it for pain relief but it just gives me a headache .
I'm sure as you get used to the strain you have you'll start to think where it can be improved upon like the initial first 20 mins is not too pleasant and may be you'll want something a bit more relaxing at certain points of the day .
Your in a good position as your tolerance is zero and lets hope over the next week your body gets more used to the first 20 mins and that eases a bit.

@Ryan Maybe have a little look at this if you've not seen it (y)

Oof the thought of a landrace Sativa just gave my heart give a little palpitation 🤣 the effects can be awesome once I'm not fearing a heart attack during a panic attack.

Mainly Indica for my head to stay quiet, though if anything is grown well I'm down to give it another go. I'm a trooper like that 🤣🤣

I'll take a look at that article more information is good to have, thanks mate!

Your word hyperdrive is very fitting for that first 30 mins or so ahaha. The benefits afterwards are noticeably improved mood though which is a step in the right direction.

I have to keep in mind my tolerance is zero like you say, there's alot to learn about the medicinal benefits of Sativa/Indica and I'm grateful for the help as it's all new too me as BM was pot luck I guess.... mind the pun.

Spot on it did cross my mind that they can be a bit racy the pure Sativa landrace and your right they're not for the faint hearted sometimes which probably explains the initial rush of anxiety and I think I'd need a seatbelt on if I did a blunt of Sativa landrace to be fair. 😂 😂
Seems using small doses is working though.

I am very similar regarding hyper drive and jittery for the first 20 mins or so of any Sativa, I am new to this (lifelong hash smoker) as well but have been only getting Indica or Indica Hybrid to stop these jitters on my first couple of scripts. Indica can also uplift you but just not to the jittery point, and after the first 20 mins it is deeply relaxing body and mental wise. In your position I would be starting with the cheaper Indica's and Indica Hybrids with less than 24% THC, get used to those before going for stronger. You can research each flower here in the bud/flower main section and in the forums if it’s been discussed, I did a lot of research here for my script that has just arrived. Over time you will find what is right for you. It's a journey :)

This is exactly what I’ve figured out. I can deal with those to give me a lift mid afternoon if my fatigues bad, but I’m far better with Indica Hybrids first thing or I feel WIRED and it’s too much. Like the stimulants I got off of for my ADHD used to make me.

Feeling wired is my enemy, I can’t even drink caffeine these days without that feeling. I carried on smoking hash for all these years as when I tried skunks in the 90s they just made me physically and mentally wired to the point it was frightening, and not worth the nicer feeling after the initial rush. Then a few weeks back I started reading about medical cannabis and found this site, then I realised I could get Indica bud so went for the script. I now like a gentle Indica Hybrid for the daytime and a stronger Indica in the evenings. I will be sampling many in the next few scripts to isolate what really is right for me, I found the terpenes discussion fascinating the other day where depending on what is dominant can also effect the feelings / hit. So, I have started my own spreadsheet and will now be analysing what terpenes really agree with me and which if any do now.

Yes! Love love love this.
I seem to favour a certain combo of four terpenes, with whichever ones the major depicting the best medical use for it.

Until I wrote it out in my journal I didn’t spot the pattern, which I’m sure will make any data people shooketh, but I’m an artist and my brain just doesn’t see things unless they’re tangible in front of me 😂

A little food for thought is my wife who suffers similar symptoms to others in this thread amongst other things says whilst talking about this thread, after a few weeks of Somaí T10:C10 Mint balanced oil she's starting to improve mentally as she steps up in dose :) so worth bearing in mind.

I never anticipated the terpenes being so important, but they are. So far, I have learned that any with Myrcene as major relaxes me and aids sleep. Limonene major has blown my sinuses apart in a good way, they now work, after 3 weeks of Bafokeng Choice as my daytime vape. I will learn a lot more from my new script where I have 6 to try, all with quite different terpenes profiles, most Indica based.
