Psychosis in family?

Hi,

So I'm new to medical cannabis, but have been self medicating for about 17 years now.
I've just had my first appointment,

During the appointment she asked if there's history of psychosis in the family and my uncle has Schizophrenia (he is the only member of the family to have any kind of psychosis) which I told her about.

She said it's not up to her but she was happy for things to proceed.

So I now have an appointment on Thursday to discuss the prescription etc. but I'm worried that I'm going to get turned down and wanted to know if anyone has had experience regarding this?

Welcome to MedBud.

Which clinic is this with? Some have stricter criteria for certain areas than others.

This probably isn't going to be point scoring in your favour but I think they tend to be more concerned about parents than extended family so I would be surprised if this got you rejected.

That said, If the gods don't show up on your side you are still able to apply at other clinics, there is no communication between clinics so it's a clean slate.

Good luck, you'll have to let us know how you get on with it all.

Welcome @jaylevi and from what you've said I think your consultation will be very much focused on you and there are patients who have had psychotic episodes in the past prescribed so I really would rest assured all will be fine and as @joint_account mentions it is your extended family so I genuinely believe you have nothing to worry about on this score

Also as already mentioned if there was to be a problem with a particular clinic in this case I'm sure many others would be accepting ,

I've chosen to go with Alternaleaf, just as it's low cost just in case I don't get accepted.

Ok that's good to know, it definitely gives me a bit more hope knowing people are prescribed that are experiencing episodes themselves.

I'll keep my fingers crossed then and let you all know the results.

I've chosen to go with Alternaleaf, just as it's low cost just in case I don't get accepted.

Ok that's good to know, it definitely gives me a bit more hope knowing people are prescribed that are experiencing episodes themselves.

You should be fine and most clinics return your deposit if your not accepted so often just getting over the first hurdle and to get a consultants appointment which you have is the best indicator of your acceptance as they don't tend to waste consultant appointments lightly.

Best of luck and it's probably a good idea to go into the appointment with a few strains you'd like to try that they have in stock so as not to be startled like I was on my very first consultation

That's good to know, I might be overthinking it a bit.

Haha yeah I've had a little browse through and got a list, I'm trying not to get too excited though.
I didn't realise it was as accessible for my condition as it is.

I've made the switch to dry herb already, so really hoping all goes well.
