Clinic
Still Deciding
Hi everyone. I am new to all of this and haven’t really started the process yet. I am a chronic pain patient who’s had many surgeries for an underlying orthopaedic condition. I have explored most conservative and surgical treatments available. I just want to find a way to have a life outside of existing. Question - does anyone know if clinics will prescribe to someone on a high amount of opioids with a view of hopefully tapering this back? Anyone with this experience? Thanks in advance.

Hi @Achybonez + welcome mate :)

I haven't the experience to comment on your chronic pain/opiods other than to say we have quite a few members here who should be able to help you. (y)

Welcome to the community @Achybonez and you sound like a prime candidate to get relief from Medical Cannabis and I'm sure many clinic's would accommodate you with the medical history you describe as many patients are using medical cannabis for much the same reasons as in tapering down opioids and this was brought up by my wife on her consultation as a legitimate aim.
If you need any advice from us here about clinics feel free to ask and as I suggested this medicine could help you a lot with the right clinical guidance .

Thank you so much both for the warm welcome and positive response!

Are there certain clinics better equipped at treating chronic pain while still on opioid medication?

Welcome to our Community @Achybonez as @GrownHealth has explained you'll have no problem being Prescribed Cannabis for your Conditions.
I myself was taking copious amounts of Opiates for my Spinal Conditions. I have been prescribed MC for over 18mths and I have managed to cut my opiate intake by over 2/3rds. I still have to take some Opiates for my conditions. I'd start your Journey into MC ASAP mate for a good number of reasons 👍

Wow well done! Like you I don’t anticipate it being something that’s stopped altogether, but if I can reduce and get some better bowel function back I’d even take that as a win right now! 😂

Thanks for the warm welcome 🙂

I would actually suggest it's very common through most of the clinics although the doctor who prescribed you opioid medication would be in charge of you reducing it as the clinics don't take over your GP/specialist care and medications but would encourage you I imagine to look at this and prescribe the right meds to assist you .
I would suggest Integro for more one to one attention and a decent selection of meds (also Grow Access Project discount scheme) from a recent conversation I had but this costs more but not much than say CB1 Medical which is primarily a pain clinic and costs £50 for the year +£6/ month postage and the cost of your meds .

I contacted my GP's Pharmacist and told them of my intentions of reducing my opiate intake and I done the reductions myself, at my pace. They may try to make you reduce more than that's comfortable to you. Ignore them, it's best at your own pace, especially if you've taken Opiates for Years.

Thank you all for your help and guidance. Really appreciate it!
Your welcome anything you want or need to ask, someone from the Family here will reply to you pretty swiftly. I'd recommend CB1 Medical as a clinic as they are connected to the NHS and great pain Specialists, there are other clinics out there but its what's best for you and your budget 👍

Welcome @Achybonez, you are 💯 % in the right place - the guys you've already spoken to are superstars in my eyes - keep asking questions and I really wish you the very best of luck on your MC journey 💚
