i haven't been a medical cannabis patient or general user for long, on account of only having existed the two decades, but this year really seems to have brought about some changes when it comes to pricing.

people have really gotten used to paying £6 or £7/g, or more, just to get to some good quality flower, with cheaper options generally relegated towards dirt weed. the past couple months though, and the past couple days in particular, i've noticed some real good value shit both rolling in and coming down in price.

this is both just looking at the IPS stock list, where i'm actually ordering from, and monitoring the price change history/new strains on here, and for some highlights:

  • Good Supply Reserve: new sort of sub-brand of Broken Coast, popped up and started selling some crazy quality strains at some very low prices, that have only been progressively dropping. i reviewed the Emergen-C here before, which is still a great option, but for sheer value the £3.50/g Pavé takes it. i don't know if that drop from a previous £4.50 is permanent, but either way, the value for money they're offering is crazy, and i can say from personal experience trying them all that they have yet to release anything less than amazing.
  • Big Narstie Medical: before today, the only real value strain from these guys was the Gorilla Kush, but they've suddenly both added a new low-cost option with the £3.95/g Jack Kush, and just sliced their pricing across the board, with three strains down from £5.95 to £4.95/g.
  • LIT: these are small buds, hence the reasonable pricing, but these guys sell some jacked-up, high % shit at reasonable prices. couple £6.95/g ones, although those are reaching 34%, but highlight on the £5.50/g Florida OG, which i've had, and the two different variations of Master Kush that have appeared - one at 34% and £5.50/g, and one at 30% and £4.95/g. have yet to try either, but will definitely be having one of those in future.
  • Peace Naturals: pretty well-known, primarily for their GMO Cookies (currently in possession of), and they've been doing some price-cutting. GMO down to £6.50/g makes it a great nab at 32% on my batch, and they seem to be progressively cutting down the prices of the other strains too, which are still already pretty worthwhile if you can spare the money - i did love the Sonic Lemon Fuel when i had it a while back, so here's hoping that comes down a bit further.
  • 4C Labs: have always had some good quality stuff from these guys, but they're finally starting to catch up on the value front. lots of higher end stuff just starting to come down (Moby Dick, Dantez Inferno and Durban Kush from £8.50 to £7.50/g), but primarily, Pucker-Up went down in the last couple days from £7.50 to £5.50/g, and was resultingly snatched up by me. outside of the shifts, their Cold Creek Kush and Strawberry Cake at £6/g (with weaker smalls for £5.50/g) aren't crazy value, but are pretty good pickups that i hope follow suit and go down to a more reasonable £5/g or lower.
for some quicker mentions, SafriCanna, Phant, Mamedica, Kasa Verde, Craft Botanics, All Nations and Sundaze seem to also be pretty consistently cutting prices down, and there are plenty of others starting to do the same. Mamedica® definitely had the funniest one though, with their Black Garlic ending up at £6/g, down from an utterly hilarious £11.50.

with a tweet quite literally just coming through from MedBud about average prices dropping, it definitely does seem like the tide is turning, and people really are just ignoring these high-cost strains enough to get prices competitive. could also say it's something to do with the Greens gaining traction with very frontal drug legalisation policy - maybe they feel the legal market's just round the corner? that could just be delusion, but it's an interesting prospect. hope this highlights some options for the frugal, at least.

This post is gold, my finances' are still struggling from Christmas so I too have been buying the cheaper strains. I agree that the broken coast pave and the BNM Kush were both excellent value for money, although they were both close to expiry.

Let's hope this is indeed part of a ongoing trend, cheaper meds allow more patients to access them.

This thread poses another question.

What do we as patient's value most in our meds?

Would folks rather pay £10 for a 10/10 strain or get twice as much of something that's reasonably well grown and has similar effects?

Personally, I would value consistency most. I sometimes think I would be happy with a "repeat prescription" of a few staple strains as long as i knew the quality was going to be consistent.

I realise that the producers mostly know what the market wants but also feel that we suffer from the "candy shop" American way of releasing 50 new strains a month to capture a more "impulse/walk-in" market which probably doesn't suit medical as much.
