Travel to Romania with Medical Cannabis

I entered RO through Bacau airport with 12+g of medicinal Cannabis prescribed in the UK. I presented the prescription and letter from the doctor, the buds and the oil in the original containers. There was a gentleman at the declaration point, he was not at all interested in what I had in the bags; he looked at the prescription/letter and that was it; I didn't have to fill out any forms. Even when I said that I couldn't believe I was entering RO with cannabis, he smiled and shrugged his shoulders.

To make it clear: In Sept 2025 I had no problems entering Romania while possessing medicinal cannabis legally prescribed in the UK!

It's good to hear these 'everything went as it should' stories to counter the horror stories

I think officially you still have to get a Schengen permit from the target country consulate, the travel letter is officially not enough by itself. So there is still a chance the border guy can make a fuss if they're in the mood. Bud very glad it just worked!

I think you are right regarding the certificate @GreenRed , my mistake is/was that I'm Romanian and Romania just entered Schengen area in January this year. I completely forgot about that and as far as I'm aware all you have to do is get it from a pharmacy. I'll make sure to remember this next time!
