Hi all, got a Venty for flower ,originally had pax plus, not good at all. Has anyone experience with the Venty , i have 0.1g dosing caps, 3 or 4 pulls lots of vape, after that bit burned taste and lung irritation. Temp was about 180c, I’m wondering expected hits/draws for that dose and also are the bongs on other discussions the way forward for the coolest vapour to reduce lung irritation. Any thoughts. Cheers.
I don't have the Venty, but the Mighty+, but it's the same size heating chamber and dosing capsules and same max temp. They should only really differ in battery life and airflow design.
Those dosing capsules are more like 150-200 mg capsules rather than 100 mg I'd say, unless you're using them with the little capsule packers that take up some of the room. In my opinion 100 mg is too little for a dosing capsule - there capsule is too empty, too much airflow inside it, and a lot of the herb gets blown around and some gets sucked through the course screen. The end result is more mess, less vapour, less effective medicine imo. There seems to be a sweet-spot of flower density that means that the heat conducts through the flower evenly. Not enough flower and there's not enough contact to facilitate conduction, and too much flower and airflow is restricted.
Storz and Bickel's own studies show there's almost no point vapourising 50 mg or less because even with their most efficient device (volcano bags) you'll only be getting about 4-5 mg of
THC in the blood stream which is going to be barely noticeable for a daily user. 100 mg is kinda close to that imo. So in short I recommend packing more into the capsule, at least 150 mg. The Mighty+ is only about 33% efficient, the Venty is probably similar or worse, so you'll be lucky if 100 mg of flower translates into 5-6 mg in the blood stream.
You shouldn't really get much lung irritation or "burning taste" at 180 degrees, so I'm finding that suspicious. If anything an underfilled chamber would lead to very little vapour production and not much taste in general. Usually you get the most amount of irritation with fresh flower at higher temperatures, not with flower that's already had a good few draws at a lower temperature. Could indicate a defective device, which would be concerning. Could also be the quality of the herb. Right now for example I'm finding that my day-time strain just lasts a lot longer in terms of # draws and quality of vapour than my night-time strain.
Generally yes, getting a nice glass piece for water cooling is going to be the most convenient/cheapest way to cool the vapour further for a smoother draw without upgrading to a different device like the Volcano where the bags/long whip are naturally cooler than most portable vapes.
