Clinics ⚠️ CB1 Medical: Patient/Clinic Data Breach

I was just discussing this with the Mrs and she's made a point to me I hadn't considered.

It doesn't take a genius to know most people have LinkedIn with their employers linked. Full names are available on this document and around 40% of patients are supposedly mental health patients.

It would not surprise me if someone tries to use this data to try black mail vulnerable patients through saying they'll disclose usage, amounts, whatever is on that document to their employer.

This doesn't require some career fraudster to make use of this data, rather someone who fancies their chance to make some money and is down on their luck.

I Don't mean to panic anyone, nobody is doing anything illegal but I think this has multiple prongs to how it can hurt peoples lives.

There's almost no benefit to staying with CB1 Medical if other choices are freely available and easy to switch to for patients (which currently is the case). Such a serious breach of sensitive medical data is devastating for any company, but potentially devastating for every name on that list. Everyone listed is now a target for phishing scams, identify theft and blackmail. Unless crime has stopped altogether by the time I post this, then surely some bad faith actors will threaten (via email) to expose your cannabis use to your employers, social services, affiliates, family and friends unless you pay a quick fee.

I personally would try to distance myself as far as possible from the published email address and start a new one. Over the coming days, gradually start the process of changing your email to one that bears no resemblance to the published email.
That's a really good point about coercion/blackmail potential.

Looking at this thread date wishing I had seen it sooner
Don't press the panic button yet mate.

I'm fairly sure this only came to light properly last night anyway.

Youre witnessing the knee-jerk reaction from everyone and all of it is speculation. It doesn't look good for them but that's the nature of things like this.

For me the key is how it happened and what they're doing to stop it happening again and what protections that can offer patients going forward.

They may well come forward with a really solid plan on how to earn your trust again...they may not but I think patients need to be smart about it.

If you hear what they have to say and you don't like it you can sign up elsewhere and not have any medication gaps before discharging from them. If you hit panic now you risk medication gaps and all the stress that comes with that. Not to mention an outside risk of clinic rejection.

Thanks bro 🙏🏼 Great words of wisdom, I will see what email I receive in hindsight not yet been approved though aware of being in there system for some weeks now.
Never a dull moment eh 🙄

I Suppose it's not much of a consolation prize but I reckon given your sign up dates that this data likely pre-dates any data they have on you.

If the data was available 10 weeks ago, id think it's a little older than 10 weeks but let's assume 10 weeks.

That means this happened June 7 or earlier.

It doesn't change much but it should hopefully save you another dimension of stress at a minimum.

Yeah could be back to the drawing board or maybe a better chance to hagle prices down the phone lol 😆

Right I need a copy of the pdf as a CB1 Medical patient.?
How do I find out if I'm on the list?
What is compromised? Name, address, email, password, card details ?
Sort of need to know right now or have a mental collapse.

Edit i used my passport as I'd, that photo is in cb1.

Yeah you rightly deserve to have that !
How fast can CB1 act to put there clients minds at ease is of upmost importance! To be honest I did feel rather uneasy apon finding this news out this afternoon!
I do hope there is a positive outcome for all of this 🙏🏼

As far as I know It would be criminal to share mate and the contents are mainly as Ben710 mentioned ,names ,DOB emails but also prescribed meds and appointments but no bank details .
It was linked from reddit it will be on tens of thousands of computers. CB1 Medical not replying to me, so I will go get a copy to see if I am on it. And quite happy to tell any judge that.

Yeah but their client attrition rate is 57,000 p/w !!!

CB1 Medical should contact all patients affected tomorrow (y) We were initially going to extract contact details ourselves to alert patients, but we've since been assured CB1 will handle it. As stated above, no-one can legally distribute the document to other patients.

Wow over 65,000 patients according to there home page
