Can I ask anyone and everyone to get a jewellers loupe and get pics of the trichomes on your buds from the clinics. Don’t just post a pic of the bud or trichome, we’ll need to know if it’s a Sativa or an Indica or a cross breed (as each stain has specific “best” time to crop).

Just from looking at them up close will tell someone with experienced knowledge of growing/harvesting whether your buds are being harvested too early, too late or just right.

I’ve got a feeling a lot of buds at being harvested way too early, as the plants finalise the buds and become ripe for the picking all the energy is stripped from leaves, so it can LOOK like the plants about to die, but it actually needs 2-3 more weeks. Believe me these plants look like they’re on the brink of death (extra nutrients, extra water, less nutrients, less water.. doesn’t matter) but the yellow drying curling leaves are actually a healthy sign, but I think panic sets in (without experienced growing knowledge) and they crop quick thinking they’re about to loose several ounces, still really nice potent cannabis BUT, it’s a more bit harsh on the chest a slightly more speedy high…

I’d love to put my theory to the test! And it would be ace to compare the quality from each of the legal suppliers/clinics. Can I get a peek at your trichomes? ❤️

We've recently been getting some good scope shots from @Smacksalad 's YouTube channel here but it'll be nice for members who can to put up trich shots ,I remember the first time looking at trichomes through a loupe I was gobsmacked .I shall get a new loupe and try my best .

That vid just made my day!! ❤️ Someone else same thought and doing it too. Love it!

He's recently started doing the scope stuff and if you look on his channel there's a couple more but he'll be doing loads coming up ,reckon he scrutinises Canna in a similar way to yourself , a bit of alchemy an all that 😂

It is alchemy!! Total magic and once you get in tune with the plants they really, really reward you!

You all know that grandad or grandma who grew the most amazing tomatoes, or had the most amazing strawberries, they knew those plants like their best friends and because of all that love and individual attention to each and every plant, knowing exactly how they each needed to be treated, they grew magical veggies and fruits that make supermarket food taste like cardboard. Well, that’s me, only I wasn’t growing tomatoes 😂😂😂

It’s not just magic, it’s a passion!! ❤️

I don't have any pics, but have done this using one of those 60x clip on scopes for the phone and saw a lot of clear heads on what are meant to be mostly Indica/Indica Hybrid strains. I should imagine longer running Sativas are bigger victims of premature cropping though?

Indica shouldn’t have any clear trichomes, it should be a lot of cloudy and a lot of amber, if there’s clear trichomes in your Indica it’s definitely been harvested a few weeks too early and it’s lost potential medicinal properties - like help insomnia or help with anxiety.
Sativa should be a few clear, mostly cloudy, maybe a few amber,

Was really thinking about this part of your question. Sativas are likely to be harvested early as the plant reaches maturity and looks ready or looks like it’s dying, so I can see it accidentally being cropped to early.

However, Indicas trichomes turn cloudy much sooner before the plant starts looking mature or looking like it’s dying. Plus, these growers see cloudy trichomes as higher THC content for the packaging/marketing/advertising and see amber trichomes as the bad guy as THC lowers and CBN increases, even though medicinal users NEED the CBN conversion. Back in the days (2006). I had a strain called “Mist”, it was only 14%THC but because of the CBN content it sent you to sleep world in 20 minutes. I reckon if the mist was harvested early the THC content would have easily been 21-23%THC, but wouldn’t have been the KO smoke it was. I think these growers/industry think if it says 14% THC on the packaging people won’t think it’s strong enough, so won’t buy it. So I think it’s far more likely the growers will harvest Indicas well to early intentionally for higher THC numbers, rather than accidentally because the plant isn’t looking healthy. As patients will still get the Sativa effects from the cloudy trichomes, not really notice the difference and be looking at THC/CBN numbers they don’t actually understand, they won’t difference.

If you’ve never had a perfectly harvested northern lights, how would you know how northern lights is supposed to make you feel. And when you’ve had a perfectly harvested northern lights then you get to try one that was harvested 3 weeks too early, the difference is unbelievable.

I’m wondering if there are any hobby scientists who’d be up for testing the exact same plant at 3 stages, just to show the THC/CBN variation as the plant goes from almost ready, to ready, to over ripe? Just so we can see exactly what’s going on.. I’d love to be apart of this experiment!

Nice pictures brother! I do see a few clear, glass dome looking trichomes, but I see the cloudy ones too, which is all good, even for an Indica.

I’d not have cropped it, just waited another week or two for more cloudy and more amber but that’s for my own personal preference with Indica. Not seeing much amber for the CBN, still, I bet it’s a lovely vape and a good THC content, it’s saying 20-25%THC! Good harvest!! 👍

This might seem like a stupid question, or be in the wrong place, but will any of the growers be popping autos? Or will they all be photos?

The latest black cherry punch from grow really looks like auto buds to me…!
One I noticed in the past ,so in answer to your question some use auto's but I've only noticed this one so far .

I'd expect they aren't popping much, but growing from clone once they find the right chemotype (I think that's the right word for the combination of geno and phenotype). This would indeed then lend itself to photo's as you can't keep an auto as a mother.

Makes a lot of sense really ,as ideally you would use reliable mothers ,but with some brands not wanting to even name the strain the medication is from ,tricks like this have to spring to mind for a quicker buck.

Stuff like that certainly springs to mind when people are seeing different expressions in the same batch....

I’d love to see anyone posting photos, autos or not, I’m just hoping to see the trichomes of all legal bud, I’m looking to see THC-cbn ratio.. I want to see when they’re harvesting.

(I’m wondering if this has anything do to with being legal to drive - smoking over ripe Indica half amber - I think not, couch lock at 70mph on the m6 🤣)

Trichome colour is a give away to whether it’s been harvested for peak THC (cloudy) or the combination (cloudy-amber) which would help insomnia and anxiety better. I’m on a curious search.

As a keen gardener 👨‍🌾😉 I’m used to using an eye loupe absolutely. 😉

I’ve just tried and can’t get my bloody phone to take a pic with it but I’m going to see about picking one up on Vinted that works with my phone :)

Oohh another green fingered brother. A loupe is all you need! One of the most important tools of the job!

I'll get a new loupe and try and take pics but at the least I'll be able to report back on the trichs
As for the M6 ,I'd rather walk I hate that road and it's only a few miles away ,rather go any other route than the M6.
