You know those days or weeks or sometimes even months when its a struggle to lift yourself out of your pit of depression and do something ever so simple like eat, or get up and go for a shower, or simply just communicate with the people around you?

Well unfortunately i do, and I think it would be very benificial for anybody in the same situation to have a nice dedicated thread on strains people have found to help them with shaking that frame of mind, strains with uplifting anti depressant effects.

I've started noticing lately that strong lemon profiles seem to help my mood and give me nice energy and a more uplifted frame of mind, im not sure if this is to do with those certain terpines doing something in my brain to receptors that help with depression or if its just been a coincidence that the last few lemons ive tried have just worked well for me mentally and its nothing to do with the terpenes?

Or it could just be making me happier because I have always loved lemon flavored weeds so I automatically get happier when Im using them..?

Anyway the point is i think ive found that lemon profiles seem to do something beneficial to my frame of mind and im very interested in what everyone else has found works for them.

✌️

I don't have depression, but for uplifting I like Sativa leaning Hybrids like Haze crosses. I look for strains with terpinolene ( or Limone.

Examples I tried: Britz, Blue Dream, Haymaker Haze, Kim's Sweet Disel, Modified Gas, Union Jack Herer, White Hot Guava.

In the end the reason it works doesn't matter, even placebo, but for me I try to see patterns in what i like with regards to the taste/smell, terp's, THC/CBD balance etc. so I can focus in on certain strains instead of being random.

Atomic sour grapefruit,Georgia pie, peanut butter souffle, sudz and pave are all mood lifting for me.
There are loads more as well. It is a good idea to have a few different strains each day and to keep changing them when you order as well

I think candy store may be worth a look. For me it gives pure energy and good vibes, with no anxiety, raciness, or any of that.

Each to their own though. I see @JR52 mention Georgia Pie and that stuff makes me feel like I have been condemned to an eternity in the pits of hell 😂

As far as I can remember Limonene is generally thought of to be uplifting and mood enhancing though so you may be right there.

As someone who struggles with depression these may help;

Ultra sour
Jokerz
Peace Naturals® Wedding Cake
Wedding pop triangle
Pink kush

These are a few that are currently helping me, I use what I want when required nothing specific for a time of day although the wedding cake and pink kush is good for getting a sleep. I've been off my meds for around 8 months now purely medicating with cannabis and to be honest its definitely helping but I find your circumstances/surroundings play a huge factor as well. I was using BM for 23 years previous to being on medical though so I'm far from new to cannabis but MC is interestingly a bit different to BM as there is way more variety now and thats why its great to have a place like this to discuss it all 🤘 🥳

I can recommend 2 upbeat strains which don't fall into the anxious side:
Electric Honeydew - Really well balanced a bit more of an Indica but quick at relieving any symptoms.
Chemstar - Recently got this much more of an upbeat Sativa but important for me it doesn't have Limonene!
Personally i'm sensitive to Limonene so it can put my into some anxious racing thoughts so I was happy to find a strain without any that is still upbeat.

The only downside with how the setup is now is that you have to buy 10g at a time, I keep a log of what I have look into the terpene profiles and try and pinpoint what works for me at what time of the day.

One I'm currently using in the mornings is Apricot Cream Cheese and this certainly gives me enough drive to get going and get things done but it's a balanced strain and maybe it's the CBD that is helping .

Just came here to say I love this thread 👌

I actually do also relate on both counts; lemon strains are one of my favourite tastes whilst being some of the best at easing depressive episodes...

I love Mimosa, one of its parents, Purple Punch, and a little further back on the same lineage, Granddaddy Purple, for the same kind of reasons... (I had no idea they were all related until very recently, after I'd tried all of them!) Really uplifting and happy energy on those. Plus they also have a really nice taste for me 🙏 Think they'd all be classed as purple strains 💜

I think our bodies, if we listen, have ways of telling us what we like and what we need... I don't think it's a coincidence that you like lemon strains... Regardless though, I think it's awesome you're recognising what works for you 🧐💛

I've been trying to avoid anything Myrcene dominant because I'm noticing it makes me tired and more notably - forgetful. The latter is a real bother as it enhances negative ADHD symptoms. I thought Myrcene was a terpene found only in Indicas, but it's in a lot of strains - I guess that's cause everything is pretty much a Hybrid now 😕

Anyway. Again ... Love this thread, thank you for sharing ☺️👌🔥

gotta be active and have variety of things to do, where permitted of course. However, for me yodacap and MAC are happy buds.

Very good to know my ADHD might react negatively to the very common Myrcene, I'll be cautious about that!

I wish all strains would have their profiles listed. I am new to the terpene thing, but finding this info extremely useful.
mate terpenes are everything when it comes down to being medicated. All the science and consumer experience will show you that. Welcome bro.

I loathe Georgia pie. 🤢

Not sure I might be to be honest, just don't feel myself can feel me slipping into a dark place just hope it goes away man
Yeah man. I've been there bro. Best to keep active and not to sound cliche, but have a variety of things to do throughout your day. If permitted, try to not consume in the morning and see how your mood improves through out the day. Diaries help also, as it helps the bud brain remember what's actually boosting your moods rather than playing the guessing / remembering game 😂. Exercise helps, and a decent diet can do more wonders than bud.
