Sports Discussion: Buds, Blunts and Balls

He has played Sunday league since he was 6 but he is proper into cricket now as well
He costs us a fortune with fees and equipment but it keeps him out of trouble and he has got a good group of friends
That's good to hear mate ,not the fees bit
I did love cricket at secondary school and would probably love to play now and the West Indies at Old Trafford in about 82-84ish is where we got free tickets because my mate played for I think Manchester schools and I fell in love it and watched shit loads in the past but test cricket usually again mainly on telly 👌

Yes, I caught the bug in 1986 when the fridge won the superbowl with the chicago bears. I don't watch many regular games but I always stay up for the superbowl. I played defensive linebacker for a short while but hate muddy frozen fields in December

Saudi are spending crazy money to sports wash their terrible human rights record.

If I'd have found Buhurt 30 years ago I would have been heavily in to this

Muddy Frozen fields in December was like concrete with freezer burns!

I played Defensive End, Center and LT over my time. The odd time I forgot my gloves were some terrible experiences!

Are the Bears your team? Or do you just follow the sport a bit?

I'll give that a watch mate! looks class!

No I was still an avid fan then and what a day ,I've got goose bumps now thinking about the moment after 90 mins that led up to it but admittedly an armchair fan at that .
Just over 50 mate and yes it was about 84 when I started going but my older bro had already been going for a bit .
I lived in south manchester for most my life dude (y)
I remember 89 the derby and it was 3-0 at half time and I was stood at the end of the Kippax right next to the united fans and they were gutted some crying then united came out and mark hughes scored that volley/bicycle kick whatever (another goosebump memory) and the red fans had so much hope but we won 5-1 then went on to not win a derby for 13 and half years 😂and the first one was when my sprog was sat in his bouncer chair in front of the tele at about 1 month or two old ,so thought he was a good luck mascot an all that :ROFLMAO: bugger has no interest in footy at all now :ROFLMAO:
You've got some really cool stories! Some great memories to look back on and think about for you!

I'll

I'll always have a soft spot for the bears despite their victory drought but I don't follow it so closely these days.

Ah that's fair enough! Sound a bit like me and Man United!

Is the Super Bowl just a bit of an attraction every year to have a few beers and bowls?

Pretty much. I've always enjoyed participating more than spectating but I'm far too old and creaky for contact sports these days.
My hard martial arts days ended about 15 years ago when a friend was stretching my legs and my hip popped out and back in. Huge bruise on my inner thigh and I thought time to hang up the gloves and be a bit more sedate. Although, I keep eyeing up a MA instructor near Manchester who also teaches bataireacht (irish stick fighting) - perfect for old duffers who like walking sticks lol
My dodgy hip gives me an excuse to walk with my blackthorn shillelagh ;) but I'll have to see how fit I am after my surgery
