Hi, I am new to the medical cannabis world. I have suffered with insomnia and anxiety for many years. I’ve been to my GP about this over the years but was always reluctant to take medications. I have recently been prescribed zolpidem 10 mg, sertraline 50mg and diazepam 2mg. I also had zopiclone 7.5 mg prescribed previously last month which has now stopped. I have also had counselling for this in the past. It’s also noted throughout my GP care summary, issues with anxiety, tiredness and difficulty sleeping since 2006 onwards.

I applied to CB1 Medical and sent them an e-mail asking about my eligibility at the same time as applying. I was advised in response to my e-mail that as id recently only started medication to wait a few months before applying. However I had already applied and was accepted for an appointment with one of the specialist doctors after submitting my GP care summary to them.

I’m just kind of confused now if I should cancel the appointment and reapply in a few months or as I’ve been given an appointment after submitting my GP care summary does that mean they have looked and assessed me as being eligible?

If anyone has any experience with this and could shed any light on the situation that would be great.
Thank you :)

Maasbracht near Roermond then over the border in Maasmechelen 2000-2001 but use to relax in Maastricht mainly.

Maybe have a read of this thread. (y) They specialise in Mental Health. have a read of their website.
They called me back an hour later and said they had rebooked my appointment and id asked about my eligibility and they said well it’s up to the doctor overall. I don’t know wether they just got fed up of me e-mailing questions trying to clarify because I was being told one thing and then another 🤷🏻 just worried now I’ll just be told no and to come back in a few months after all the fuss. 🤦🏽

So as it stands you've still got an appointment with CB1 Medical or am I misreading it?

Yeah they cancelled it and then rebooked me back in for an appointment an hour after saying I wasn’t eligible 🤷🏻 I really have no idea what they are doing. I was looking at the Cardiff cannabis clinic id definitely try there if CB1 is a no go. There doesn’t seem to be a criteria on how long you need to be on a medication for before they say it’s not worked. Seems to me if they are specific about that they need to be clear about it.

Hopefully your application is back on the rails ,as now you know it's been looked at more than once and you've got an appointment so 🤞,failing that at least you know of other options but hopefully all will be well at CB1 and your up an running before christmas. I've seen no criteria myself and this may differ from one clinic to the next and each individual case.

I hope so! Bit of a wild day haha. Have to see how the appointment goes always other options out there :)

Sorry for asking so many questions on here but does previous counselling count as a treatment? I managed to track down my old confirmation of attending counselling sessions in 2019 and added it to my medical documents on the CB1 Medical app to help bulk up my claim, would that also be considered a treatment?

I've definitely seen somewhere that counselling counts as a treatment/therapy but would also suggest that this may differ from one clinic to another . Suppose the sooner you see them the better , your struggles with anxiety and insomnia sound very similar to my own struggles in the past and whilst I tried one medication in the 2000's it didn't last long as the side effects/state of mind were intolerable to me and I find I'm very sensitive to pharmaceuticals even paracetamol :)

I did benefit for a short time 10 years later from another medication when I had a bad episode , but this was habit forming so would of affected my life and duties too severely so I weaned myself from this and since I've been able to keep things in check with Cannabis and now Medical Canna. Just putting this here so you see its not just about having an extensive list of previous medications and I think I explained the above at my appointment and how canna had helped me over the years be able to avoid medications.

Thanks for the reply, I think I’m overthinking everything and just worried they are going to look at me like im just a stoner that wants legal weed, that’s how I felt when I was being told I wasn’t eligible. It’s documented throughout my medical history of issues with anxiety and insomnia or ‘tired all the time’ since 2006. I just never wanted to be on medications cause they make me feel horrendous which is why I applied as soon as I’d tried 3 medications due to feeling horrible from them all.

Update on my case. I sent my paperwork over to Cardiff cannabis clinic to see what their opinion was of my eligibility, I was e-mailed the next day by the consultant and told I was eligible and given an appointment for 16:30 today and was told I am now a medical canna patient. I just need the second doctor to approve the prescription but the doctor said that would not be an issue. They were amazing very attentive, answered all of my questions and after approval they went through what I could try and it was more or less what I wanted to try, I was only limited by budget really. It felt amazing to be validated and felt the whole team were amazing so should have my meds by next week! Thank you @GrownHealth for advising this clinic! They are a bit more on the expensive side but if you can afford it the customer care is so much better. Definitely worth a thought!

I cancelled my appointment with CB1 Medical earlier today. I just didn’t find them great but this was just my case and I know a lot of people have had a positive experience with them! :)

Thank you very much for your advice on that clinic they were great! I got myself very worked up about the appointment but it was very laid back, and he was on the call for nearly an hour very attentive and going over my history and recognised this has been a long standing issue of anxiety and lack of sleep.

Wow nearly an hour that's real good and thorough service and I imagine has made you feel very good about your choice ,quite frankly it seems you've been given gold star service and the fact you've now got access to all the pharmacy's and medications with discounts make me mega jealous 😂
Headache clearing now ,great what a bit of good news can do.(y)

Yeah they were very attentive he explained everything very clearly, answered all the questions I had, put me at ease even recommended this forum for further advice and said to ask about strains on here as I really didn’t know what to ask for so he made a few recommendations within my budget and prescribed those :). So my advice would be if you can afford it they are a great clinic to think about! Glad I helped your headache haha certainly made my day better for sure haha! :)

I use Cannabis Clinic Cardiff myself, and they single-handedly rescued my medical cannabis experience - after poor experiences with my prior two clinic. The CEO is a patient herself, and her husband is their main specialist.

To the best of my knowledge, you now have the widest possible access to medications available at any clinic - as CCC do not have a default pharmacy, and will prescribe from any pharmacy's formulary. They're one of the only truly independent clinics.

After your follow-up (if not already) you'll receive a detailed PDF with all your on-going care details, and a form for requesting new medication up to your assigned limit each month.

PS: Amended the thread title.

Honestly I could not fault any step of the process, the customer support team were great and like I say the consultation was an hour so he really took the time to go over everything and made me feel at ease! He just asked me what I needed and was very attentive and like I say recognised immediately that these issues had been longstanding! :)
