Just completed my three month review and whilst I'm happy with the outcome (a prescription) and my choices, I feel a bit flat. I didn't feel there was any clinical engagement. No real interest in what had worked and what hadn't. No comment or advice on supplementing with CBD.
Mission accomplished but a distinct feeling of going through the motions :confused:

I felt same when I used to be with Mamedica®, just a bod with a checklist, not even a doctor most of the time

It seems like Alternaleaf is basically free, £5/month but then they take £5/month off orders of medication for "Monto care assist"! Not surprised the meetings are quick, but being autistic and not especially talkative that suits me fine. I think you'd have to pay for somewhere like Cardiff to have actively involved doctors.

Welcome to the forum @notanotherusername and you are right regards costs and there are a few clinics hovering around the near free clinical costs now and basically its down to what suits the individual and its understandable not wanting to be in a long consult for some people but there are also a lot of clinics that do offer consults that are more in depth at varying prices but as you highlight it's down each persons individual needs from MC and to be honest when I joined MC I just wanted the consult over and done with where as now I appreciate the consults I have .

Does anyone know how I go about ordering strains from a different pharmacy? Do I need to call the pharmacy prior or just contact Alternaleaf? Thanks
The only reason to contact the other pharmacy first would be to confirm they had stock of the desired item but if you are confident they have stock then it would be done by contacting your clinic with the instruction to send the prescription to where you want and then the other pharmacy will contact you with how to proceed when they receive your prescription (y)

Thank you very much

Just got my first script written by Alternaleaf! The appointment was with Martine Stoffels, who was absolutely lovely to talk to (she complimented my long, dyed hair :>). Having been quite experienced with BM (2-2.5g a day), I was quite happy to be given a 60g limit on first prescription! I've got All Nations MAC Daddy, Upstate Wedding Pie, Cali-X Gelato 41, and a Gorilla Glue that I don't remember the brand of. I've also gone for Curaleaf ECSD Hash Rosin and Aurora® Electric Honeydew Resin carts. Got a T25 cap on flower, which is understandable since I only turned 18 this month :ROFLMAO:

Brilliant to hear you had such a good experience I do think Alternaleaf excel with that kind of thing. I haven’t tried any of the flowers but the rosin and resin carts are fab. Were they your choices or theirs out of interest?

All my choices! I was actually quite surprised given from what I've heard about not being able to choose the first script. Maybe my previous usage and knowledge made them feel a bit more comfortable? I was also very close to getting the Watermelon Zkittles instead of the GG but I think I might give it a try month 2!

Awesome, that's even better! Yes I think for most people on the first appointment you will be suggested strains but if you have prior experience and are confident/assertive the choice is yours so to speak. And that's the beauty of it, there's always next month! 🙏😁

CQC inspection report finally published:

Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: 22 to 29 July 2025. Winnersh is the registered location for Montu Group UK Ltd, which trades under the brand name Alternaleaf. It is a private clinic that provides medical treatment for patients being prescribed unlicenced cannabis-based products for medicinal use (CBPMs). Unlicensed medicines are medicines which have not been assessed for safety, quality and efficacy by the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency (MHRA). Unlicenced medicines can be prescribed to meet an unmet clinical need of a patient where other licenced treatments have not worked. The clinic is registered with the CQC (CQC) under the Health and Social Care Act 2008 to provide the regulated activity of treatment of disease, disorder or injury.

This assessment was a responsive assessment to follow up on information we had received about the service and given the length of time since registration without an assessment, we reviewed all quality statements.

At this assessment we found breaches of regulation in relation to safe care and treatment, premises and good governance. In instances where CQC has begun a process of regulatory action, we may publish this information on our website after any representations and/or appeals have been concluded, if the action has been taken forward.

People's experience of this service

The service encouraged patients to leave online reviews and follow their social media accounts. They described how they monitored and responded to feedback received via social media and through direct channels. The service also carried out regular audits of patient satisfaction, with results generally improving between February and June 2025, reaching 87%.

We did not speak directly with patients during this assessment. However, we received mixed feedback from a small number of patients. Some patients shared positive experiences, highlighting a smooth application process, timely and convenient service, professional and friendly staff, and feeling listened to and supported in their treatment. Whilst others expressed dissatisfaction, citing limited input from specialist doctors, dismissive attitudes from staff, and a lack of response to complaints. A few patients also reported confusion about the relationship between this service and Montu Pharmacy run by the same provider.

I see the disclaimer regarding data processing in South Africa is gone. Any news about that? That was literally the only deciding factor against them for a friend.

I mean this is what they say, but it doesn't outright deny that they would be storing data somewhere else

Your personal information which we collect is generally transferred to and stored on secure third-party servers located in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA). Such storage is necessary in order to process the information. Where your data is processed or stored outside of the UK or EEA, we ensure a similar degree of protection is afforded to it by ensuring that at least one of the following safeguards is in place:

  • we will only transfer your personal data to countries that have been deemed to provide an adequate level of protection for personal data by the European Commission;
  • where we use certain service providers, we may use specific contractual terms approved by the European Commission which give personal data the same protection it has in the EEA;
Any transfers made will be in full compliance with the Data Protection Legislation.

We removed because there has been no public announcement yet, and it's not yet valid/operational – we're quite certain it's coming though.

South Africa doesn't have legal GDPR/data protection equivalency in the UK (as defined by our secretary of state), though to the best of our understanding legal contracts will be put into place to ensure our own data protection laws are upheld.

We will reissue the notice once patients have been notified, and once we're certain things are live.

I mean this is what they say, but it doesn't outright deny that they would be storing data somewhere else
Their T&Cs should/will be revised upon launch. There is certainly data-sharing with Australia in-place right now, but they have legal data-protection equivalency and are otherwise covered.

"To support these improvements, we work with a trusted administrative team in South Africa with experience supporting European organisations across healthcare, banking, other regulated businesses, and a proven track record.

All clinical services, prescribing, appointments and medical decisions remain managed by our UK-based clinical team.

Any access to your data follows UK GDPR rules, with the appropriate legal agreements and strong security measures in place to keep your information safe."

Updated privacy policy from Alternaleaf where the possibility of administrative support being utilised in South Africa is now mentioned.
Warning re-added to their listing:

This is general policy at MedBud, processing or storing data in any country the UK legally defines as having inadequate data protection equivalency will always be highlighted. Other examples including CB1 Medical in India, and Treat-It in Sri-Lanka.

So I've had my first 2 appointments + 1 month follow up and 2 prescriptions so far. Next appointment is in 3 months or so. Out of curiosity, how will choosing/ordering meds work without an appointment?
