Seriously though if you are (understandably) pissed off I would wait until tomorrow before doing anything

I did have half a mind but took a breath or ten 🙏🤣 I asked them to fulfil my request without further delay and asked questions around the policy and compliance.

The problem is I don't really care about my prescription anymore and just want an answer to on what planet they think those type of steering mechanisms are compliant. Or indeed if this was not intentional, a promise that they are not going to do this going forward and will inform patients of these kind of changes in policy at a more appropriate time, as in literally any time other than when they chose to inform me.

The more I think about it, the more I think pressuring to buy from their partner pharmacy like that is incredibly illegal. Imagine if this happened with any other form of medicine. Medicann MIGHT get a pass into the sneaky grey area as they don't have any partner products as far as I'm aware, but Montu is rammed with Upstate, Sundaze® and Circle which turns it into an entirely different animal.
 
I actually think this is policy at most clinics when the product has not been previously prescribed before by them for example Mamedica® will let you use an outside pharmacy but only for products previously prescribed by their doctors but I'm not sure maybe Alternaleaf used to do it different ?

As far as I know you are right mate, which is somewhat questionable in its own right, but it's a new policy at Alternaleaf and was only communicated with me at the point they could exert maximum pressure on me to give up as it were and use Montu. I would have much less of an issue if it had been emailed to me at the time of change.

6 days after making it abundantly clear I would like the review to be conducted for the Cali-x flower from Cedarwood, having being told to expect a 2-3 day delay, I have just received a phone call to again, explain the new policy, the supposed benefits to myself - claiming consistent quality and stock at Montu - and to check if I would still like to go ahead and request the Cali-x flower to be reviewed. Maddening, and at this point is there really any question of what is going on here?

I explained the issues I see with regards to steering, compliance, and that to suggest stock issues and consistent quality when talking about Montu just doesn't stack up in reality, as while partner products are consistently in stock, they inconsistent in terms of quality and value, and the brands that are consistent quality are not held in consistent stock. This also seems to be part of the steering mechanisms in place.

I know more and more clinics are testing the boundaries with regards to the dark arts but it doesn't make it right. And honestly if I am going to continue with a bullshit semi-compliant clinic I might as well switch to Medicann.

Received an email to say the item has been approved, and my prescription will be written and sent as urgent for next day delivery. So for me, in this instance, it is resolved. I only hope they have understood the issues and do not put other patients through this as they may not be as resolute as myself and coerced into buying products they do not want.

Yes absolutely mate. Compliant or not, if I were receiving consistently high quality and good value medication, with a consistent level of service, I would have nothing to complain about.
 
LMAO turns out they are adding the Biscof to Montu formulary. I suppose that is a fair compromise given the levels of fuckery that seem to be creeping into the space.
We shouldn't have to go through this but bravo mate for having the will to see this through and yes one way or another they're getting it to you at last ,lets hope they have learnt from this and you don't have to go through it again for whatever reasons .

They seem to have made you climb a hill of hassle and delay even though you got it resolved

Agree, the only reason I don't move the Medicann for the benefits it offers (other than my clinic being fantastic!) is that I don't like the methods they employ, if your clinic is following suit but in a patchy way then you may as well get the full benefits of the dark side and jump ship

If you haven’t heard from the pharmacy within 5 business days, give us a call

Intentionally too, I'm sure. They gave me every chance to give up and go with partner products and then some.

This is it mate in a nutshell. I want to be all above board with a clinic that is clean as a whistle and run by the book, but if I am going to be caught up in some shenanigans, might as well have all the benefits on offer.
