I made my first batch of gummies a couple of weeks ago using a recipe from ChatGPT. I didn’t want to stink out the kitchen, so used the dry mason jar in boiling water method to decarb and then extract into coconut oil. This meant that the decarb temp was only 100 degrees (centigrade) and around 85 to 90 for the extraction.

So, although the temperatures were lower than ideal, I ended up with around 150 gummies from 7g of Bon nuit bonbon that give a pretty good head buzz and quite giggly.

For my next lot, I’m going to try and be more traditional and use the oven method for decarb. I want one batch with a nice uplifting feel and one more couch lock/ time for bed. So the main questions are:

  1. What decarb temperature and time would you suggest for each option?
  2. How much impact does the strain have if you’re decarbing and potentially changing the terpene profile?
  3. Will the best effect (difference) come from both the strain and the decarb temp/time or will just changing either the temp/time or strain be sufficient?
My gut feeling is to prepare one batch with a Sativa at 110 degrees for 40 min, then the second batch with an Indica at 125 degrees for 50 minutes. However, if the temperature is going to have more of an impact than the strain, it makes sense to stick with something like BNB at only £35 of 10g.

Thanks
