We've had to waste a lot of development time over the past few days on improving our security checks against automated traffic - a few times over the past week our server has been destabilised by huge amounts of bot traffic trying to scrape information from our platform in bulk.
Past 24 hours, by our best calculation, we've received 117.1k visits from real people, with 97.95k on-top from 'friendly bots' – that's search engines, social media link checkers, AI queries, SEO trackers etc.
By contrast we've had to challenge what we believe is likely malicious automated traffic on 599.56k visits, with just 1.63% then passing browser/security checks (and likely almost all VPN users, where the VPN server is coincidentally in the same data-centre/network we've otherwise received malicious traffic from).
We're trying to avoid having to have up security checks for all visitors, it's inconvenient, and members grumble.
We're a non-profit, we struggle for funding, please stop trying to break our terms of service (and the law), by effectively DDoS'ing our server because you want to copy our data and assets for your own commercial gain.
We've had to enforce our trademark twice recently from copycat websites masquerading as variations of the MedBud name, and shut down two websites copying our copyrighted images for commercial gain. We'll defend ourselves legally at every step.
We are head-deep working on a full industry API, but access will strictly be limited to clinics/pharmacies/distributors and those with an actual need to access the data for the benefit of all, as opposed to those just trying to replicate medication data to launch their own commercial services for profit.
If you, as a company operating in the industry, want access to MedBud's data live via API - drop us an email, and help fund the initial development. The more support we get, the faster it can launch. I dream of the day we can hire external development support to speed things along.
Everyone wants to piggy-back off of MedBud, it costs us today thousands per month just to run our service.
Please find ways to work with us, not against us.
We will just continue blocking off malicious traffic, throughout the day, every day.
