I have only ever been diagnosed for ADHD but have suffered from depression and anxiety in the past. But 7 years ago I suffered from phycosis from alot of drink and drug abuse and I was denied access to legal cannabis prescription for this reason. Surely everyone has the right to access this medication no matter their back ground! Is there any way I can get around this issue?

Psychosis is often seen as one of the major red flags to prescribers, and I'm not aware of many patients being successfully prescribed with it listed on their medical record.

While you may find a specialist willing to prescribe, each new patient's case needs to be reviewed by an 'MDT' (multi-disciplinary team) to get secondary confirmation of overall suitability - this MDT is different at every clinic.

The best advice we can give is to use our clinics list to ring around companies, explain your case, and ask for an indication of whether you could be accepted after applying. In general almost all clinics should do a free eligibility assessment over the phone.

Off the top of my head: Alternaleaf, Mamedica®, CB1 Medical and Lumir® will all refund you if you're unsuccessful applying again.

As said above, some Dr's will with conditions (like how long since last episode etc). Case of keeping on trying. Wish you all the best with it.

Mine went to the MDT 3 times at the beginning because of my epilepsy and the strains chosen weren’t right.

Did you manage to get taken on by a clinic? Would be great help for myself and others is similar situations.

Your situation is very similar to myself. I have rang CB1 Medical and Mamedica® both shutme down straightway.

I told them I feel like if given a consultation and a doctor seeing it was a one off episode many years ago (10 years ago for me) they would understand. Also my records show in recent years I have self medicated with BM cannabis and did not became unwell or have a episode.

However the eligibility checker asks about it and if you say yes your denied even getting a consultation. I understand there covering themselves and also it could be bad press for MC if someone became unwell.

Thanks for the reply mate means alot, as I said I rang them and tried I'll probably have to try some of the other clinics.

I'm not the best at representing myself with my anxiety I end up messing up but I felt I said clearly enough about my situation and they still shut me down.

To the best of my knowledge Cannabis Clinic Cardiff are specialists in mental health and I do believe people in the circumstance you describe have been prescribed but every case is individual and this clinic like I say is A specialist Mental Health Clinic so may be worth contacting them and reading their website .
Maybe watch this so you can learn about the people who run it.

From what I see these are good people who will put you ease whilst discovering whether you qualify for Medical Cannabis .
If you struggle with finding anything on this site or need more help don't worry just ask .

Thanks for the advise, they sound very good. (Sounds like there setup to really help people more than just a buissnes)

I'll definitely have to consider that clinic if I don't get anywhere with the others. Only downside is there price is pretty high for what I can afford.

Read this ,it breaks down the costs as I thought the same at first.

Worth talking to Alternaleaf and Lumir® too, as both have a policy to refund if unsuccessful.

I have got a consultation offered with Curaleaf, there doesn't seem to be any info of the Dr's other than there names so I guess I just pick the best time slot. Anyone have advice on who to pick? Thanks again.

Edit: Booked first available appointment for next week, hopefully goes well thanks for the support on here. I'll update how I get as I'm sure it can help others.

Yes @Ryan it definitely will help guide others no matter what happens, but lets hope all goes well and your up and running as soon as , nice they've got an appointment so soon as this'll pass quickly hopefully. (y)

Big thank you to all the advice I was given here, encouraged me to not give up and gave me hope. I have been accepted and am awaiting my prescription been able to order. Hopefully the MC will help with my Anxiety and depression as it did in the past.

The consultant I had an appointment with was very understanding of my situation, I think it helped I had documented on records that I was using cannabis in the past few years so it showed there were no negative symptoms as a result.

My only advise for anyone who lands here in a similar situation would be don't give up, if you feel like MC could help you then try and keep at it even if you feel shutdown by one clinic or another.

Thankyou again, and hopefully this thread will help others.

Absolutely love it when good like this happens and this'll provide hope for loads of others to seek advice and try even if refused at first ,looks like your up and running before Christmas ,a great boost and lets hope you feel the benefits straight away with your meds ,just by coincidence I've just put a thread up showing the Curaleaf clinic's Details in the clinics section so feel free to add any of your experience so far with them as it will help others for sure.
Great to know you've been accepted and it will be great having you around the forum😁

Well @Ryan just reading through about your appointment and it gives encouragement to me that another clinics have a common sense approach to your circumstances after being refused elsewhere and adds another place to advise prospective patients to try before giving up hope because people in your position who have used canna successfully and know it helps are getting a fair hearing on an individual basis instead of a tick box refusal:)

Hopefully this will bring hope to anyone else in similar situations. Yeah @GrownHealth that's how it should be assessed on a individual basis not tick box refusal. Oh and I will post about my experience with Curaleaf on your thread once I get started! So i can give some useful info time frames ect... :) Currently waiting on prescription to go to pharmacy.
