So a little bit of brief background, for the last 16 months, i have lost a little bit of weight, down from 120kg to 70kg. Don't yet know the cause, had CT scan of head, chest and abdomen, X-ray, endoscopy, Bloods and more done.

Anyway, had another endoscopy booked for today, and this doctor who had asked the most basic questions about my issues, having known the bloke for less than 2 minutes, saw my list of meds and straight away told me to cut out the cannabis, going so far as the blame the cannabis, and it even says in my report "advised patient to stop using medical cannabis as this will be exacerbating symptoms"

WTF! i specifically told him that i have only been on the medical going onto my 3rd month, and only been on back on the black market from around my birthday in March. I explained to categorically that cannabis has nothing what so ever to do with unexplained condition, nor does it make me worse in any way what so ever, and in fact quite the opposite, with regards to helping motivate eating, as the prospect of eating only to throw up is not a nice one..

Anyway, screw that NHS doctor and his prejudice towards cannabis, i hope he stubs his big toe every day for a month!

Any of you had to deal with doctors like this?

I have had a few comedian doctors but nothing too serious.
I also have doctors who are very positive about me taking medical cannabis and say it is better than taking loads of different pharmaceutical drugs.
I have stopped taking liquid morphine through cannabis and whenever I get any stigma I just tell them that I get prescribed of a doctor and it is medical cannabis that has been tested.
I hope you get better soon mate

I've had nothing but negativity from NHS GP's regarding cannabis and medical cannabis, I tend to never mention it these days just find it makes them act weird with you or try to belittle you

NHS treat patients who are struggling to eat etc with cannabis to stimulate their appetite and a whole host of other things... and your losing weight rapidly so that's kind of controversial to say cannabis is worsening your conditions... Dronabinol is a synthetic THC which binds to the cannabinoid receptors " CB1 Medical and CB2" which may help with euphoria, appetite enhancement, analgesia, and nausea... it's useable in certain medical devices such as the Volcano Medic 2 etc

Sorry to hear you've had a bad experience with this person as I've experienced a GP scapegoating cannabis as the cause of the problem I'm now treated by MC with:rolleyes: and having also witnessed similar weight loss with my wife albeit over a longer period of time we attribute it to one of the NHS meds she's on (leflunamide)as it causes gradual weight loss as a side effect but didn't really start when she started the tablets but about a year later and maybe it's an NHS med possibly causing this although it could be something else .

I do find Cannabis can suppress my appetite and some can stimulate it but I wouldn't say this is the cause of your weight less as you pointed it that you didn't even use canna until just recently and it does appear the doctor was looking for an easy answer in his mind but quite frankly is a poor show in my mind and hopefully gets less and less frequent as these doctors get familiar with MC and the relief it provides .

I too wish they stubs his big toe every day for a month😅

I've had 2 very different experiences at my local GPs surgery. The doctor I last seen and told I was going down the MC route for my back pain actually asked my if I even want to fix my back(been trying since 2003!) and the nurse I seen when I last got my bloods taken was gob smacked I get bud and was asking about how I went about it all, as if she was going to be trying. Spent 10 mins telling her all about it and showing her all the different weeds that were available on here

I'm putting it out there and saying the NHS in general are quite threatened by medical cannabis as puts them in a position where your basically saying you believe cannabis is working better for you over their prescribed medications (tablets etc) very few of them are open to even learning about it

Sorry to hear that mate. Absolute 🔔🔚s. If your symptoms started before you started using cannabis how does that even make sense on a basic level ffs.

Sadly I had a similar thing with a GP. They told me that cannabis was bad, and to absolutely not use it, in spite of the fact that was telling them I found it helped my pain greatly, and they had literally run out of medicines to try me on, after experiencing all kinds of hideous side effects over the best part of a year. In fairness this was I think in 2018, but it still pisses me off to this day. I remember them asking me if I was dependant on cannabis. I jokingly remarked that you could say I am dependant on it for pain relief as it seems to be the only thing that helps and doesn't cause me terrible side effects, and they promptly put me down as having cannabis dependance 🤡

I spoke to a decent NHS doctor the other day and he basically said we have to warn you about the "dangers" of cannabis use and mental health problems just as part of protocol. But on a personal level he said he knows how effective cannabis can be. Even queried me on how to get a prescription for himself! He was a progressive young doctor it seems tho.

They are indoctrinated and institutionalised since the day they started medical training. What i learned in life is you can have a decent ability to perform a highly skilled job and still be kinda stupid. These people are too stupid to see the woods through the trees.

If my Dr ever said this, I would say my doctor rejects this opinion as they have prescribed me the medication. And they have training in medical cannabis which i believe unless you correct me you have no formal training in medical cannabis do you? Should you therefor be giving advice over ruling my other doctor? You could complain about them giving advice that could put you in danger aka medical negligence.

I didn’t join for so long over fear of getting treated differently as already do by some doctors and I did try to mention it few years ago and all my drs seemed dead against it but then recently I had to either stop or go legal due to several reasons and i live super remote in tiny community so everyone knows everyone’s business and I noticed the rules had seemed to change you no longer have to have it added to your medical records ( think due to ignorance and getting treated differently or them taking other meds needed to punish people) so I made it clear with the clinic I’d rather my gps didn’t know and wasn’t on my record as now it’s your choice if you tell them.. and I did ask the clinic about getting my SOC and they were straight up said if they ask they will know who and take the 28 days that can to be awkward and they said they would fast track me as soon as got my details and I went to my drs filled form at reception she said “ do you want it sending anywhere or is this for your own records is it?” So just said for my records and asked on the Friday got it the Monday and then had my first meds delivered within 7 days and there so far so good for a free clinic there going to end to lot of people moving to them especially if they manage to drop prices and keep adding more choices but think I counted around 120 different ones other day… and thought I’d give them a try but no hopefully it doesn’t end up on my records as say why hadn’t done it sooner was too scared to be treated like a bad person for needing the extra help and I’m so tiny you would think they would be happy if I manage to gain weight and be only hope but yeah not felt hungry from smoking in years but that liberation lemon cake made me feel hungry had about 2 pints of hot chocolate and cream
and that’s a big weight drop did you have covid or anything around when it started we lost lot weight from covid and tastes changing so not liking so many things after even now
and I lost so much weight before getting diagnosed with cancer but you had scans si so that’s good and yeah sorry had my head in the shed lately or would suggest more x

I'm fortunate that my current GP has been really good. All she said was if it is working ...and if you're happy to pay for it, great.
It did cause me a lot of anxiety in the lead up to the appointment and went prepared with research papers in case I got a negative response.
this was my trump card to drop
I still get anxious when I have to go to the hospital (frequently at the moment) and list my medications but I haven't had any negative reactions. They seem more worried about whether I've been taking turmeric (it's a blood thinner).

I don't think these bad responses are just related to MC but mostly bad clinicians. I had a hernia a few years ago and was desperate to avoid surgical mesh. I ended up going to Germany to get a mesh free hernia repair after having an argument with a surgeon in this country. When I raised concerns about mesh he condescendingly told me that I don't have a vagina so I don't need to worry about a mesh reaction. The conversation went rapidly downhill from there, I told him where to stick his mesh before storming out and he discharged me. The first thing my German surgeon said to me was that he wouldn't recommend mesh as my asthma would give me an increased chance of rejection.

Doctors are trained to prescribe from the GSK, astra zeneca catalogue. They get a couple of hours training in nutrition and have no idea about a holistic overview. If it isn't a pill, cream or injection they don't understand it and often treat it with suspicion.
