Clinic
Still Deciding
Morning all, thanks for letting me join, I’m just hoping to learn from real experiences. I'm up in the north of Scotland. I’ve requested my full medical records and a “Statement of Care” from my GP, not sure how long that’ll take, and I’m still researchin which clinic to go with.

I’m in my mid-fifties and have lived with severe spinal issues for years , 99 % stenosis and spondylolisthesis at S1, L5, L4 and L3, followed by major surgery (removal and fusion) of those vertebrae and nerve damage. After years on opioids, citalopram, amitriptyline and gabapentin, I finally came off the lot as they’d stopped helping. The pain and lack of sleep were wearing me down, but I recently tried vaping cannabis for the first time and the relief was unbelievable , far better than anything prescribed. It's a bit of a minefield for me, started at reddit, but most posts that were on experience tended to be negative, I get it, but then researching alternatives same negativity, I know negatives always surface in public forums. I found MedBud wiki and seems like a place where I may be able to actually make some informed decisions. I’m now looking properly into the UK medical-cannabis route and trying to get my head around how the clinics and supply side actually work.

That's me, again, thanks.

Welcome to the community @mendit and we tend to have a gentler flow here than reddit fortunately ,I myself am in my mid 50's as you'll find quite a few of are and between us here we have a lot of experience of clinics through being patients for varying lengths of time and I myself started with Mamedica® on the access scheme but after 18 months or so decided to transfer clinics to Cannabis Clinic Cardiff (Mental Health Clinic) to have a bigger choice of available meds and a better experience all round .

Many find satisfaction at varying clinics between us all with some services suit some more than others .

We do like to give the information for you to make the right decision as we understand everybody's needs are different with some people needing more clinical guidance than others through their experience of Cannabis(or lack of)and where as some prefer the minimal clinical interference in their choice of medicine others rely on the advice of clinicians so certain clinics would suit that scenario more than others .

Clinic fee's range from free and you just pay postage each month say £5 per prescription which if only requesting one per month totals £60/year, if 2 per month £120/year plus the cost of meds and others £10/month with no postage fees ,also clinic's have varying joining fee's

Some clinic's are newer and we're just finding out the pro's and con's of them .
If you want to know about a particular clinic just ask and one of us will probably be able to give our experience of them in a balanced way.

Thanks, @GrownHealth and @Scriptoh, some helpful information there. @Scriptoh just getting hold of my GP is unfortunately a nightmare. I got the NHS app, but zero information in there on any treatments or records I have had.
No worries at all, If you decide to choose Medicann they do all the legwork for you so no need for NHS app's etc, Best of luck on your Journey amigo!

Welcome 🙏🏼 @mendit
Sorry to hear about your spine condition I myself suffer from a bad back but nothing compared to what your experiencing and I'm hopeful you will be able to find meds through MC to eleiviate some of your pain 🙏🏼
MedBud and the community has been a game changer for myself as I'd didn't have a clue about anything MC until I joined and now find myself in a place of some knowledge of what can work best for my ailments of mind and body ✨
My whole perspective on Cannabis as whole has changed since becoming part of the MedBud community and I'm still in the early stages of my journey but have gained a wealth of knowledge in a short period of time.
Good luck on your journey 💚💯

@Bryan thank you, appreciate that mate, thank you. I’ve learned that pain’s not really comparable everyone’s experience is different, and it all counts. Hope you’re managing yours as best you can. Peace.

I am still waiting for my GP to pull their finger out and send me my SCR but I emailed Medicann on Thursday and they told me what to do and by Saturday I had had my initial consultation and been accepted as a patient. I should add I was transferring from another clinic so it will be a bit different for you but I’m sure they will be able to help.

Thanks @stu any chance you can share what they told you to do? This in itself has been the hardest part in the process. I should use the word GP loosely here as every appointment I had throughout was with one of many GPs in my local practice.

Morning mate I will tell you how I had to go about it.
Innately I sent an email to an address provided by the receptionist to which after a week I had no response and a member advised that you only need to ask the receptionist for a print out of your last 6 to 12 month of NHS meds to which I obtained from the surgery reception then uploaded the pic to the section on the CB1 Medical app which was accepted and I moved onto the next stage of a phone consultation.
I've since left that mob and joined Medicann and there acceptance policy would seem slightly different as when I had uploaded the same document to Medicann that was not deemed to be viable and after my first phone call with them they asked if they could retrieve what information they require on my behalf which was sorted with in a week and feel if your having issues with your GP then mabe to have a bitvof of a more stress free experience I would be of mind to contact Medicann 👍🏻

@Bryan many thanks. I have actually started the process with Medicann yesterday. My GP surgery was not listed in Medicann's onboarding process, and hit submit anyhow, then emailed their support with the details of my GP surgery explaining the app issue. I was surprised to actually get a human response explaining that this will be added during my eligibility call, this on a Saturday evening! Quite a positive feeling.

Hi @mendit what they told me was to upload screenshots of the medications and consultations sections of the NHS app plus the main section with my name and NHS number which I did plus the transcripts of my consultations with my previous clinic and copies of my prescriptions. I also uploaded a letter one of my consultants had written for me a year or so ago which neatly summarised my medical issues over the last 10 years (he is a rheumatologist and wrote it in order to get some action from my dermatologists who were supposed to be leading my care but had gone AWOL).

I don’t suppose they were expecting over 40 screenshots but that’s what they got haha 😀

@stu cheers for the response. Unfortunately the app only lists medical history for England & Wales, we don't get that on the NHS app in Scotland. Basically I am 100% reliant on the efficiency etc of my local GP surgery.

I did think that might be the case. Also as I was transferring I had a couple of prescriptions from my previous clinic that I imagine helped a lot.
